About Singin' in the Rain

When two of Hollywood's biggest silent film stars (Don & Lina) are praised, their manager thinks they should star in the latest rage - talkies.  Trouble is, the female star has a grating voice and can't sing.  Even with coaching, she's a non-starter for talkies.

On their way to an after-party, Don escapes thronging fans by jumping into the car of an unsuspecting young actress named Kathy.  He thinks she's lovely, but the feeling is not mutual.   They attend the same after-party where Don's boss shows a talkie movie.  Don spots Kathy as a backup dancer and spends time trying to corner her.  She rebuffs his attempts and throws a cake at him - but misses, and hits Lina instead.  Then Kathy disappears.

After a few weeks, Don runs into Kathy on a movie set.  They start to fall for each other.  Meanwhile, Lina still has a grating voice and can't sing even with diction and voice lessons.  So Kathy becomes her voice over double.  But what will this do to Kathy's potential career if she has to always be Lina's voice?
