About Men On Boats

Ten Explorers. Four boats. One Grand Canyon. Men On Boats is the true(ish) history of John Wesley Powell's three month expedition to chart the course of the Colorado River in 1869. The charismatic Powell had lost an arm in the Civil War; his crew of insane yet loyal volunteers were the first white men to explore this last, dangerous frontier of the American West. But playwright Jaclyn Backhaus tells their story with a cast made up entirely of actors who are not cisgender, white males."

Tantrum Theater

Tantrum was founded in the fall of 2015 by Ohio University’s College of Fine Arts. The theater is a professional company and serves as a training ground providing apprenticeships for students in the Theater Division. The name Tantrum Theater comes from a group of Ohio University graduate students who discovered that one of the collective names for a group of bobcats is a Tantrum. The mascot of Ohio University is the bobcat. Tantrum’s mission is to create and propel forward a resident professional theater company and training conservatory in a partnership with the Ohio University College of Fine Arts.
