The Ice Fishing Play Cast
Pete Pellinen (Ron)Ron finds his zen in his ice fishing house on a frozen lake in northern Minnesota, similar to Pete's Zen. Pete co-founded Stages of the Range Players after 23 years as Director of Small Parts Players Regional Children's Theatre as well as Artistic Director of the IRRRP/Northern Stage Works, the precursors to SRP. When it's not winter, Pete spends his time as a guide at the Soudan Underground Mine State Park, and sailing his C&C, the LyricHull on Leech Lake.
Tavia Melhus (Irene)Irene was the love of Ron's life. She had hidden depths and talents, but found a way to blossom...in Yellow!
Tavia lives in Iron and has been cast in other shows with Stages of the Range/Northern Stage Works including: "Almost Maine," "Last Train to Winnipeg," "Surviving the Spotlight," "These Shining Lives," Mystery At Upton House," "Molly Howard Is No More" and the radio shows "War of the Worlds," "Auntie Scrooge," "Our Miss Brooks."
Ethan Allan (Duff)Ethan Allen returns to the stage after a several year hiatus. He has been involved in plethora of community theater projects since the winter of 2001. Getting his start in a dinner theater show "Lights, Camera, Murder". Ethan works at Nelson Williams Linings Inc. as a driver and sales representative. Throughout the summer months he spends as much time as possible on any golf course.
James Conger (Junior)James Conger (Junior) started his journey in theater over 35 years ago, performing with numerous theatrical companies in the Louisville, Kentucky area, culminating at the Indiana University stage in New Albany, Indiana with Sam Shepard's "True West." His stage dreams were interrupted by a 29+ year stint in the U.S. Air Force and assignments all over the world, but he is very excited to be back on stage for this production. James and his wife, Kristian, enjoy volunteering in the community and are the very proud parents of Jacob and Hannah.
Jerry Newton (Tim)Over the last 20 years, Jerry Newton has appeared in dinner theaters, melodramas, two-act plays and radio plays. He really enjoys planning an announcer and also announces at Giants Ridge for their Nordic ski races. Jerry enjoys winter – spending time with his kids, grandsons and great grandson.
Jean Newton (Paula)Jean Newton has appeared in dinner theater performances and radio plays. She has also worked backstage with costumes and other duties. Jean enjoys spending time with her family, snowshoeing, hiking and getting together friends, and also long walks on the beach and classic convertibles.
Jase Matuszak (Chairman Francis)This is Jase Matuszak’s first production with Stages of the Range but we is no stranger to the stage. His most recent role was Hades in 'Hadestown' at his high school, Rock Ridge. For this role he received an Outstanding Performance Award from MN Spotlight Education. He was also recognized by the Bluebird Foundation for his extensive career in theater receiving the Munsell Theater Award. Other notable roles are Jud Frye in Mesabi Musical Theater’s production of 'Oklahoma' this last summer, Wadsworth in his school’s production of 'Clue,' and Gomez in his school’s production of 'The Addams Family.' Next year he will go to UMD to study Musical Theater and hopes to teach theater at a university some day. He is extremely excited for this show and hopes you enjoy!
Caleb Simmonsen (Chairman Shumway)Caleb is an 8th grade student at Mesabi East. He in in Speech, Debate, Knowledge Bowl and on the Student Council. He performed in the play 'Dracula' at Mesabi East. This is his first year acting.
Julia Papin (Young Ron #1)Julia loves to act! This is her 10th play. She is 13 and attends Marquette School. Julia lives with her mom, dad, big sister Addy, and dog Sadie. When she isn't acting, Julia enjoys cross country running, track, girls' wrestling, and hanging out with friends. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Kinsley McDermid (Young Ron #2)Kinsley is a 6th grader at Marquette Catholic School in Virginia. She has been performing in plays since she was 6. She loves the stage and jumps at any chance she can get to perform. When she is not acting, she loves to sing, spend time at the lake swimming and hangout with her friends. This will be her 11th play and she is very excited to be on the stage once again.
