St. Francis Borgia Regional High School

The St. Francis Borgia Regional High School Department of Theatre and Speech is a state and nationally recognized department noted for its excellence in theatre and speech education.  The department has won the Missouri State High School Activities Association District 6 one-act competition five of the past six years, took second place in the Christian Interscholastic Speech League in 2019, has performed as a mainstage production five times at the Missouri Thespian Conference since 1996, has been designated as a Missouri Thespian Honor Troupe every year since 1997, and was chosen as the Missouri delegate to the Chapter Select performance at the International Thespian Festival in 2015.  

Director Tim Buchheit has been at the helm of the department since 1995 and has been chosen as the SFBRHS Teacher of the Year, the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year, the Missouri Thespian Teacher of the Year, the Franklin County Relay for Life Hero for Hope, and has been inducted into the Educational Theatre Association Hall of Fame.  

Graduates of the department have performed and worked on technical crews around the world, including the current director of Late Night with Seth Meyers, former audio technician of Beautiful on tour and on Broadway and The Book of Mormon on tour, a video director at Saturday Night LIve, a performer on television's General Hospital, actors in the Oscar nominated movie Up in the Air, a former performer in the national tour of Wicked, and many more.  Graduates also direct theatre departments at Union High School and Sullivan High School  

The department annually sponsors Theatre for a Cause, through which it has donated well over $10000 to local and national charities, including Exceptional Equestrians, the American Cancer Society, and The Emmaus Home.
