About Annie Jr.

Leaping Lizards! Westport will “stick up its chin and grin and sing ‘Tomorrow!  Tomorrow!’” when SBEstudio performs "Annie Jr.” this spring. Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning best musical by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, “Annie Jr.” tells the story of a spunky Depression-era orphan living a “hard-knock life” at The New York City Municipal Orphanage who is determined to find her parents. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy. In the end, we see how a plucky little girl transforms her entire life by making the most out of every moment. "Annie Jr."  is really a heartwarming show with an important message about the true nature of family.

SBEstudio will present “Annie JR.” from May 16th-18th at 245 Post Road East in Westport, CT.  The show runs 1hr and 10 minutes with a 15-minute intermission, concessions available. There is no dress code, but the cast will remind you that you are “never fully dressed without a smile.” See ya there, rotten orphans!

SBEstudio

SBEstudio started off as a small boutique, holding classes out of my home studio. I have been mentoring young actors since I can remember, but it was only after I had a huge health scare that I decided to focus more fully on my teaching. While I was working at a variety of Conservatories around Fairfield County my private clientele continued to grow steadily. When Covid took hold and paralyzed our world for those 2 years, I decided to bring my student programming online. This also was the beginning of our large group classes which led to full scale productions on my outdoor, socially distanced stages. We began to sell out these group and online classes as SBE quickly became a community favorite for performing arts instruction, and we've just kept growing from there! We now have a wonderful Studio space at the historic and beautiful Saugatuck Congregational Church Hoskins Hall, where we bring in state of the art technology to our Showcases, Productions and Outreach work.
