PIPPIN is about the human desire to find identity, meaning and life’s purpose. Born into a family of privilege and wealth, the musical of PIPPIN starts as the title character returns home from completing his university education, full of knowledge and passion, ready to take on the world. The only problem is, he doesn't know how or what he wants. Add to the mix a domineering, detached, and destructive father; a manipulative, ambitious stepmother with an ulterior motive; a conniving and dumb sibling with an agenda; and a besotted grandmother who can’t quite fathom she’s old -– and what results is deception, deceit and despair. Pippin needs salvation. Follow Pippin as he seeks approval, tries things out, trips up, succeeds, fails, and nearly gives up — but eventually finds his way to happiness and contentment.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

• Will call/check-in is located in LeFevre Theatre (across from the entrance to the SMC Bookstore). There are no physical tickets for this production. To check in, come to the LeFevre's glass front doors (Will Call), and we will match your name against the list of reservations. Walk-up tickets are also available at the Box Office half an hour before each performance. We may sell out, especially for the closing performance, so we encourage you to purchase tickets ahead of time.
• Program: For every student performer, there are nearly twice as many whose rehearsal and backstage support makes the production possible. Please join us in thanking these valued members of the company. View the full program here.
• Exchanges: If you need to exchange your ticket for a different performance, please just bring proof of your original purchase/reservation to the performance you are attending. Note: we plan to sell out on April 26 and maybe some other dates. Come to the Box Office 30 minutes before the performance you want to switch to to make sure there's a seat for you to be able to exchange your ticket. Please do not contact us ahead of time to exchange a ticket.
• Guest Parking: Follow the directions for paying for parking (50 cents per hour) in the Soda Center parking lot, gravel lot between the Museum of Art and Syufy Performing Arts, or other available parking on campus. Pay via text and your credit card by texting "PAY" to 77447 and indicate "SMC" as the lot when prompted.
• Running  Time: About 2 hours plus a 15 minute intermission with concessions for sale.
• Content Warning: Please note a strobe light is used in part of the production along with flashing and bright lights. Also, there are scenes depicting intimacy and partial nudity. These scenes have been created in consultation with the intimacy director.
• Actors will enter through the house from time to time. So, please remain in your seats and arrive on time so you don't get in the way.
