Placer Rep's HAMLET: Roseville Cast
Carson Sloan (Hamlet)Carson is a recent graduate of Jessup University with a major in Biology, but an engagement in and passion for their performing arts. At Jessup he was featured in many roles such as Percy Blakeney in The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Harold Hill in The Music Man. Carson currently sings and dances with the Pops Chorale and Orchestra, and previously, he performed for much of his youth with Rocklin Community Theater, playing such roles as Riff in West Side Story and Officer Lockstock in Urinetown. Carson first worked with Placer Repertory Theater playing Fabien Dei Franchi in The Corsican Brothers, then played the titular character in Sherlock Holmes: The Sign of the Four. This is his second season with Placer Rep.
Katie Elson (Ophelia, Queen Gertrude and others)Katie has previously been on the University of the Pacific stage as “Meg” in Brigadoon, “Lucy Locket” in the Beggar’s Opera, and Dido and Aeneas as Summer. She performed with the Stockton Symphony as “Juliet” in Romeo and Juliet. She was also a featured soloist in the Opera Follies. She has appeared on the Stockton Civic Theater stage as “Mrs. Segstrom” in A Little Night Music, and most recently as “Evelyn Nesbit” in Ragtime. She earned her bachelor's degree in music from the UOP Conservatory of Music and her Actor Certification from the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. She is now part of the VAPA team at Visions in Education. With Placer Rep, she recently played Dr. Van Helsing in Dracula, the interactive melodrama.
Mark Hoffman (Track 2: King Claudius / Polonius et al)BA Psychology & German, Ph.D. Clinical Psychology. When not practicing as a clinical psychologist, Mark performs as an actor and musician. Favorite performing credits include Baron Hardup, in STC’s production of Hawley & Cofffin’s Cinderella, John Sutter in On Native Ground’s rock opera Something Inside Is Broken, Judge Littlefield/Caiphas in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Papa Macabee in Darlin’ for California Stage, and Ali Hakim in Oklahoma! Over the past decade Mark has also accumulated credits as a screen writer, director, cinematographer, and producer. His film “Little Room for Justice: The Elevator” (2021) won Best Film honors at LifeFEST Film Festival. His first role with Placer Rep was as Quadro in the melodrama Frankenstein, on tour through 2024, and the villian in Sherlock Holmes: The Speckled Band in Spring 2024.
Jessica Martinelli (SWING: Track 3 & 2)With a BA Theater Arts from UC Santa Cruz, she performed with Shakespeare Santa Cruz and Shakespeare To Go, including the role of Hortensio in Taming of the Shrew. Her local credits include leading roles with Davis Musical Theater (Sally Bowles in Cabaret and Rapunzel in Into the Woods), and several years with Suspects! Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. Her first performance with Placer Rep was the Storytellers Theater ensemble performance of Gingerbread Boy. She currently is the lead actor / onsite liaison for Placer Rep School Tours and Family Theater. She is also cast as the villainous Mrs. Madge Larrabee in Placer Rep's Spring 2026 show: Sherlock Holmes: The Strange Case of Miss Faulkner.
