The Palmetto Center for the Arts is the Visual and Performing Arts Magnet for Richland School District Two. The program, which includes dance, music, theatre and visual arts, is nationally recognized as a National School of Distinction in Arts Education by the John F. Kennedy Center and is the recipient of the John F. Kennedy Creative Ticket Award for outstanding achievement in arts education. PCA offers students an innovative, challenging and comprehensive  conservatory-style curriculum in both the arts and academics, along with the competitive edge to enter top-level colleges, universities or conservatories. PCA is designed to challenge the student academically, as well as artistically. The program of studies accommodates those students who wish to take honors-level and Advanced Placement courses, as well as those who prefer a regular college preparatory curriculum. The PCA Arts Magnet Program is designed to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of high school students who are gifted and talented in the arts. Courses feature small-class sizes and incorporate the best practices in teaching, addressing multiple intelligences, higher-order thinking skills, learning styles, research, and an active engagement of the students through a challenging.
