Director's Note
When I first got to Page Middle I had no idea what was waiting for me. What kind of space, what kind of talent, what kind of commitment. I have been so amazed by both the talent of the students and commitment of the families and community surrounding our program! As we were working on our Fall play, Fantastic Mr. Fox, I began thinking about what musical would fit the students we have. I immediately thought of SpongeBob. It has amazing music, awesome tech opportunities, and above all it allows us to create something completely new and exciting.
The story of this play is also just so fitting for our group. The overarching doubt that Spongebob has of being more than just a “simple sponge”. Sandy's fear of being cast out of her community just because she comes from somewhere different. Patrick's good ideas that are never listened to. The themes of this show go deeper than just the fun music and killer choreography. I am so lucky to have a group of students that takes this show seriously and have worked so hard to bring it to you, our amazing audience!
Thank you for your support of our students, our program, and of the arts.
