Seussical Jr. is a, musical, fast-paced show that weaves together many of Dr. Seuss's most famous stories, narrated by The Cat in the Hat. It primarily follows Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing the tiny planet of Whoville and vows to protect it, alongside caring for an abandoned egg.  Horton faces ridicule from the other animals in the Jungle of Nool, who do not believe the Whos exist. The story features Horton, JoJo (a Who child), Gertrude McFuzz (the bird with a one-feather tail who loves Horton), and the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. The show emphasizes the importance of loyalty, friendship, family, community, and the power of being unique. The central theme is summarized by the phrase: "A person's a person, no matter how small". 

Ottoson Middle School Department of Performing Arts has a rich history of producing Jr. Musicals since well before the 2000's!  Some historical performances include Beauty and the Beast Jr., Newsies, Jr., Mean Girls Jr., High School Musical Jr., Guys and Dolls Jr., Fiddler on the Roof Jr., and Annie Jr.!
