About SHREK The Musical

Shrek the Musical follows the story of an ogre who, wanting his swamp back, makes a deal with the short-tempered Lord Farquaad: rescue Princess Fiona from a dragon in exchange for his swamp. He teams up with a Donkey, and they find the princess, who has a secret curse that transforms her into an ogress at sunset. Ultimately, the unlikely heroes save each other and learn that true beauty is on the inside.

Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning stage adaptation of the 2001 DreamWorks film, featuring music by Jeanine Tesori and book/lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. With over 20 fairytale characters, bumbling guards and a Dragon, these storybook characters come to life with fun and clever songs and lyrics. A great distraction with a balance of silliness and sincerity.

North Buncombe High School

North Buncombe High School Theatre Department has had a long and strong tradition in creating plays and musicals to entertain, move and delight our community. Through the tutelage of James F. Debruhl, North Buncombe saw school and community theatre thrive in their small town and generations continue to reminisce about performing in a school production. Now with Rick Webb in his 28th year at North Buncombe High School, we see a continued passion to bring a little taste of Broadway to our high school stage and watch a new generation of students enrich us and themselves with their time and talents. We hope that you will join us by attending a production or supporting our program by any means that you can. This production will mark Mr. Webb's 30th NBHS musical and will be his final musical production for the school. If you have any questions you can email Mr. Webb at [email protected].
