The River Styx Speakeasy in partnership with New Surry Theatre is proud to present Hadestown: Teen Edition. This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone — Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.

New Surry Theatre is taking you right into the middle of New Orleans in the 1920's. Welcome to this New Orleans prohibition era speakeasy, where our owner, Hades is using his regular performers to put on a production of Hadestown: Teen Edition. Here at The River Styx we have a working bar right on stage where you can get one of our three great mocktails: The Way The World Is, The Way It Should Be, and Persephone's Punch (Order these on the merch page). We will also have some wonderful pre-show performers singing some blues classics, so don't forget to come early!
