About Disney's Frozen: The Musical

Mount Pleasant High School was selected to represent the State of Delaware as part of the “The United States of Frozen” “Love is an Open Door” competition. A winner was selected in each of the 50 states and territories. Each winner was awarded the rights to perform up to 3 performances of “Disney's Frozen: The Musical" prior to the general release of licensing rights to the larger theatrical community!

The nationwide competition called out to high schools to be the first in their state to produce Frozen in their local communities. Applicants were asked to describe their unique vision of Frozen and how they will use the theme “Love is an Open Door” as an opportunity to strengthen their school community, provide outreach to underserved groups, and support inclusive and diverse theatre programs.

Based on the hit movie from 2013, Disney's Frozen: The Musical  is the timeless tale of two sisters, pulled apart by a mysterious secret. As one young woman struggles to find her voice and harness her powers within, the other embarks on an epic adventure to bring her family together once and for all. Both are searching for love. They just don’t know how to find it.

Featuring familiar songs like “For the First Time in Forever”, “Love is an Open Door”, “In Summer”, and the smash hit, “Let it Go", Disney's Frozen: The Musical is guaranteed to entertain children, teens, and adults.

Mount Pleasant High School

Mount Pleasant is a comprehensive high school located in the northern suburbs of Wilmington, Delaware. There are approximately 1,000 students enrolled in grades 9 through 12. Mount Pleasant High School has been part of the Brandywine School District since 1978.

Currently, the drama department produces 3 productions per academic year. In the fall, MPHS Drama produces a play premiering around November. Upon return from winter break, the Student Directed One-Act Play Festival is performed in the month of January. Jumping in right after the one-act play festival, MPHS Drama begins rehearsal for the spring musical production, premiering in March.

All productions, and shows happen in the Mount Pleasant High School auditorium. The 1,200 seat auditorium is the largest of all schools in the Brandywine School District, and one of the largest in the state. The auditorium is equipped with a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system.

All proceeds from ticket sales, ad sales, and sponsorships go directly to fund the productions and the drama program.

We thank all parents, friends, Mount Pleasant High administrators, and sponsors for their unwavering support.

See you at the theatre!
