Mesa Middle School

Mesa Middle School has a long history of commitment to the performing arts.  Robyn Metchik set the stage for this generation's success!  Her long and successful reign as drama director for Mesa Middle School brought to life productions of Wizard of Oz, Once Upon a Matress, Cinderella, School House Rocks, Annie, The Little Mermaid, and so many more!  Stars like Katie Boeck, Joanna Jones, and Zach Efron all got their start through drama programs with Robyn Metchik in Lucia Mar Unified.  An article in The Tribune on April 22, 2012, quoted Zach Efron in reference to Robyn Metchik as saying, "She kept us all performing together, put us in shows and trained us — and that’s how we fell in love with performing.”

As Metchik passes the torch, Marcia Geyer remains in close contact with her as a mentor.  Marcia Geyer comes from a college and community theater background in Fresno, California.  She started supporting the theater program at Mesa Middle School under Robyn's wing as a choreographer, and has produced two online shows, as well as two live productions (Dear Edwina Jr. and Peter Pan Jr.) since the school closure in 2020.

Mesa Middle School is determined and committed to keeping the performing arts program strong and thriving, and recognizes community support as an essential part of this goal.  Thank you for all of your support in our efforts!
