The Sound of Music Cast

Laina Goodison (Maria Rainer)
Laina is a senior and is very excited to be playing the role of Maria in Mercy/Xavier's spring production of The Sound of Music. Her past performances include Seussical Jr. (Cat in the Hat), Annie Jr. (Grace), Guys and Dolls Jr. (Hot Box Chick), Into the Woods Jr. (Cinderella's Stepmother), and Pipping (Leading Player). She is also a member of Music Ministry, Chamber Choir, NHS, Math NHS, and Tri-M. Laina would like to thank her friends, teachers, and family (especially her grandmothers) for all their love and support in her fine art endeavors.
Abigail Gomes (Mother Abbess)
Abigail Gomes is a senior and is looking forward to playing the role of Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music. Her previous productions include Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Charlie Bucket), High School Musical (Kelsi Nielsen), and Game of Tiaras (Belle). She is also very involved at Mercy as a member of the chamber choir, music ministry, co-president of the ukelele club, and serves on the executive boards of Math NHS, Spanish NHS, Tri-M, and ITS. Outside of school, Abby loves volunteering at her church and with individuals with special needs, writing, and spending time with friends and family. Abby would like to thank her friends, family, the directors, and God for all their continuous support and for this wonderful opportunity.
Brianna Hurlock (Sister Berthe)
Brianna is a junior and is super excited to be playing the role of Sister Berthe in her first musical! Brianna is currently involved in Mercy's chamber choir, music ministry, Mercy Ambassadors, and also volunteers at a local hospital in her spare time. Brianna would like to thank her parents and family for their support and love!
Payton Vogt (Sister Margaretta)
Payton is a sophomore and is extremely excited to be playing the role of Sister Margaretta in the spring production of The Sound of Music. Her past roles include Gabrielle (Cinderella), Annie (Annie), Nala (Lion King), a Delta Nu (Legally Blonde), and much more. She is also a member of the Mercy chamber choir, music ministry, Tri-M, and does singing and theater outside of school. Aside from performing, Payton enjoys swimming, lacrosse, learning languages, traveling, baking, and spending time with family and friends. Payton wants to dedicate her performance to her friends, family, and especially her mom, Kari Vogt.
Carolyn Capel (Sister Sophia)
Carolyn Capel is a senior and is very excited to be playing the role of Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music. She has participated in every musical since her freshman year. She is also a member of Mercy's chamber choir, is a cantor at her church, and enjoys dancing and soccer. Carolyn would like to thank the directors, cast, and crew, her friends, and her amazing family.
Joseph Paterno (Captain von Trapp)
Joe is a senior who is very excited to be playing one of the leading roles in the spring musical. Although he has never been in a musical or play before, he has great memories of watching musicals with his family, including ones his sister was in. His favorite musical is The Music Man. Joe discovered his talent for singing right before his senior year on the senior retreat and since then has joined the Xavier choir. Joe also plays the violin in Xavier's string ensemble and is a captain of the Xavier robotics team.
Owen Carter (Franz)
Owen Carter is a senior and is so excited to be rounding out his time in Mercy/Xavier Drama with one of his favorite musicals of all time. Looking back on his time here, he remembers fondly his roles of Prince Charming (Game of Tiaras), James (High School Musical), and Luis (Pippin) and is thankful for this opportunity to play Franz in the Sound of Music.
Emma Lemieux (Frau Schmidt)
Emma is a senior who loves all things theater and plans on continuing to do it next year at Trinity College. Emma has played Maddie (God's Favorite), Mrs. Alexandra (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime), a cheerleader (High School Musical), and will now be closing out her time at Mercy by playing Frau Schmidt in The Sound of Music. Emma plans on becoming a film director and a writer. She would like to dedicate her performance to her mom and grandma.
Catherine Lomuntad (Liesl)
Kate is a junior and is so excited and grateful to be playing the role of Liesl in Mercy/Xavier's spring production of The Sound of Music. This is her third production with Mercy/Xavier Drama. Her other roles include Leading Player (Pippin), Matilda (Matilda), Amaryllis (The Music Man), Molly (Annie Jr.), Paulette (Legally Blonde Jr.), Little Red (Into the Woods Jr.), and Ensemble Member (Beauty and the Beast and High School Musical). Aside from performing, Kate is an active member of both school and club soccer, serves on Mercy's junior executive board, and is a member of ecology club, broadcast journalism club, and is a mercy Ambassador. Kate would like to thank her family, friends ("goo"), teachers, and everyone else who has always supported her!!!
Max Caplan (Friedrich von Trapp)
Max is a junior and is incredibly excited to be playing Friedrich von Trapp in his second Mercy/Xavier Drama production. His previous shows include Meet Me in St. Louis (Grandpa Prophater), The Addams Family (Pugsley), Into the Woods Jr. (The Baker), Legally Blonde (Prof. Callahan), and Seussical Jr. (The Cat in the Hat). Max is eagerly looking forward to his senior year and would like to thank his parents and his Grammy.
Luke Milite (Kurt von Trapp)
Luke Milite began his theatre career the way he begins most endeavors, spontaneously. Since that decision, he has played the roles of Policeman #1 and London Policeman (the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime), Ensemble (Pippin), and Smaegol (Game of Tiaras). Luke is also involved in the outdoorsman club, gaming club, and voice acting. He would like to thank his parents, castmates and the directors for supporting him in all his performances.
Aubrey Nosal (Brigitta von Trapp)
Aubrey is a sophomore and is very excited to be making her stage debut as Brigitta in The Sound of Music. Outside of drama, Aubrey plays for the Mercy tennis team and also babysits. She would like to dedicate her performance to her grandpa for encouraging her to put herself out there because "she is very dramatic". Aubrey would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to all her family and friends for their support.
Sarah Rose Sundquist (Louisa von Trapp)
Sarah Rose is a freshman and is thrilled to be playing the role of Louisa von Trapp in Mercy/Xavier Drama's spring musical. Her past drama experiences includes playing the role of Hans of the Southern Isles in Frozen Jr. Outside of performing, Sarah Rose is a member of the Cheshire swim team and is the manager of the Xavier varsity hockey team. She also likes to travel and spend time with her friends. Sarah Rose would like to dedicate her performance to the directors, Mr. Cahill, Mrs. Farrell, and Mrs. Brugger, as well as her parents, her sister, Sophia, and the entire Mercy/Xavier community.
Abigail Brugger (Marta von Trap)
Abigail is in the 3rd grade at St. John Paul II school and is very excited to be playing Marta in The Sound of Music. Previously she has been in Wing It (Orville), Bugs (Butterfly), and Winnie the Pooh (Honey Bee). Abigial has done Broadway Bootcamp and outside of performing she enjoys taking ballet class, horse riding, and enjoys writing plays. Abigial would like to dedicate her performance to Lillian for helping her stay confident during rehearsal, even though she didn't know it.

Nate is a senior and is very excited to be playing Rolf in his third Mercy/Xavier Drama production. He loves performing on stage, as well as designing sets and props. He has been in many productions, his favorites being Newsies (Jack Kelly) and Pippin (King Charles). Nate is a member of Xavier's sailing team, captain of mock trial, a peer minister, president of the ukelele club, chief Xavier ambassador, and is also a newly established Eagle Scout. He would like to thank his mom who has supported him by driving him to theatre since third grade and attending every performance.
Hannah Veenhuis (Elsa Schrader)
Hannah is a senior and is so excited to be playing the role of Elsa in Mercy/Xavier's production of The Sound of Music. She has been in every show at Mercy since her sophomore year and has loved each role she has played! Hannah uses her vocal talent outside of the musicals as a member of Mercy's chamber choir. Aside from performing, she loves to spend time with friends, family, play softball with her team, and work at Chick-Fil-A. Hannah would like to thank her cousins, mom, dad, Dan, her amazing directors, and lastly her singing coach, Robin, for always supporting her!
Thomas Collison (Max Detweiler)
Thomas is a senior and is very excited to be involved in the production of The Sound of Music in his role of Max Detweiler, his second role following his performance as Guard #2 in Game of Tiaras. Thomas loves everything about music, from singing in chorus to playing guitar. Thomas would like to thank his family, his menotrs, and the US armed forces for this opportunity and hopes his work in this production will glorify God.
Joshua Reichard (Herr Zeller)
Joshua is a juonr and is very excited to be playing the role her Herr Zeller in The Sound of Music. He has most recently played the role of the King in the fall production of Game of Tiaras. Joshua has also been in Mercy/Xavier's productions of Pippin and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Ouside of theater, Joshua is a peer minister and is involved in recycling club at Xavier. He also enjoys music and collects vinyls and CDs.
Dory Antaya (Frau Zeller)
Dory is a sophomore and is very excited to be playing Frau Zeller in The Sound of Music. Some of her past performances include Game of Tiaras (Dwarf 1), Mean Girls (Dancer), Pipping (ensemble), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (Station Police), and The Lion King (dancer). Outside of drama, Dory is a member of the Lakeside Academy dance team, music ministry, Tri-M, and surfrider club. She would like to dedicate her performance to Grace Szeghy, Charlee Brockett, and Payton Vogt for encouraging her always and making her laugh.
Euan Hall (Baron Elberfeld)
Euan Hall is a senior and is ecstatic to play the role of Baron Elberfield in this year's production of The Sound of Music after a seven year hiatus from theatre. His previous performances include The Music Man and Mary Poppins. Euan is involved in peer ministry at Xavier and is a grade 4 bagpiper. Euan looks forward to a successful performance. Euan would like to dedicate his performance to his mom.
Alana Talamona (Baroness Elberfeld)
Alana is a senior with an abundance of energy and positivity. Every day she shows up and gives her all on stage, owning every line, song, and dance. In the past, Alana has helped out behind the scenes in Game of Tiaras and performed on stage in High School Musical and Pippin. Although she is sad to leave Mercy/Xavier drama club soon, she hopes to continue her theatre experience and wow crowds in college. Alana would like to thank her parents for putting up with all the drama she forgets to leave on stage and also all of her friends who made her experience in theatre unforgettable.
Ethan Taylor (Admiral von Schreiber)
Ethan is a freshman and is honored to be a part of the Mercy/Xavier spring musical. He has previously played the role of Guard 1 in the fall production of Game of Tiaras. Outside of drama club, Ethan spends time watching tv and movies. He is dedicating his performance to his two dogs, Duncan, and Simba, as well as to Mr. Cahill, Mrs. Farrell, Mrs. Brugger, and all of his family.

Giovanna is a senior and is greatly anticipating playing a nun in her last production with Mercy/Xavier Drama. She has participated in theatre since her sophomore year and was most recently on stage in Pippin. Outside of drama, Gigi is involved in mock trial and golf team.

Outside of performing, Mia enjoys skiing and playing tennis with her friends. Mis wants to thank her family for always supporting her throughout her life.
