The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Creative

Director
Mrs. Brittany Hernandezis in her fifth year directing the Masquers of West Essex. Directing credits include You Can’t Beat the House, Clue, Rosie the Riveter, The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza, Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play, Seussical, Grease, Mamma Mia!, and A Knight at the Theatre. Mrs. Hernandez is in her fifth year as a Special Education and English teacher at West Essex High School. Mrs. Hernandez minored in theatre performance at Caldwell University and her love for theatre has grown every year with seeing her wonderful Masquers students put together astonishing productions. Mrs. Hernandez would like to thank her production team for all of their hard work, laughs along the way, and support for the students. She would also like to thank her husband, family and friends for coming to the shows to support her kiddos! Mrs. Hernandez is so proud of each one of the students in the cast and crew. Break legs to everyone!

Pit Conductor
Ms. Caitlin Shroyeris the Orchestra Director at West Essex Middle School and West Essex High School. Ms. Shroyer is honored to be joining The Masquers to conduct her first show! As a violinist, she has performed in numerous high school, collegiate, and professional productions, including The Nutcracker, Fiddler on the Roof, Secret Garden, The Addams Family, Young Frankenstein, Seussical, Peter Pan, Annie, South Pacific, Road Show, Oklahoma!, Bye Bye Birdie, Sweeney Todd, Phantom of the Opera, White Christmas, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Set Designer/Stage Crew Advisor
Mr. Chris Conroyis excited to be back for his second show as Set Designer and Stage Crew Advisor as part of the Masquers of West Essex. This is Mr. Conroy’s first year at West Essex where he teaches the entirety of the Woods Technology Classes at WEHS. Mr. Conroy graduated from The College of New Jersey with a BS in Technology & Engineering Education. He would like to thank the entirety of the Masquers staff for welcoming him as part of the production team this past year. He would also like to extend a large congratulations to all of the Cast & Crew of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for all of their hard work and dedication for this spring’s performance.

Assistant Director
Ms. Jessie Maidmanis in her first year of teaching at West Essex. Ms. Maidman has been involved in theater production since she starred as Marie in The Aristocrats Jr. in 3rd grade. She is very excited to help assist in directing this year's musical and working with the fantastic and euthisatisc cast and crew. Ms. Maidman studied English Education at Suny Oneonta and took quite a few theater classes while attending. She has been to Broadway many times and had the pleasure of seeing Dear Evan Hansen, Legally Blonde, Mama Mia, Little Shops of Horror, and even saw the original cast of Wicked in 2008. Ms. Maidman would like to show gratitude to the entire cast, crew, and staff who have welcomed her into the Masquers with open arms!

Vocal Director
Mrs. Marion Drewhas been a music educator and theatre director in New Jersey for over 30 years. A graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, she has directed almost one hundred musicals and plays, and taught in several New Jersey schools, both public and private. A longtime resident Teaching Artist, she was formerly at the Papermill Playhouse, is currently working with Arts Education at NJPAC in Newark, and in 2003 was named Somerset County Woman of the Year in the Arts. She is thrilled to be at WEHS as the new Choral Director, working with such fantastic students and faculty and is so excited to share this fun show and this outstanding cast with the West Essex community. She thanks the cast and crew for their dedication and hard work, and her family for their support.

Technical Director
Mr. Michael Galiotois honored to be the Technical Director for West Essex High School's Production of Putnam County Spelling Bee. Mr. Galioto is a Social Studies and Special Education teacher at West Essex and has had a lifelong passion for theater. It has been a pleasure to teach these students technical theater and allow them the opportunity to express themselves creatively. Mr. Galioto would like to thank his tech crew for their hard work, as well as his directorial crew for making this production such a great experience!

Choreographer
Mrs. Shaun Salmongraduated from West Essex in 2004 as a member and captain of the Varsity Dance Team and a member of Masquers, appearing in seven productions as both a dancer and actress. Most notably, she appeared as the lead in Absolutely Murder and as Gloria in Mame. She choreographed Beauty and the Beast, High School Musical, Sweeney Todd, Guys & Dolls, Legally Blonde, The Addams Family, The Little Mermaid, Seussical, Grease, Mamma Mia, and last year’s virtual 10-minute musicals. She holds a BA in American Studies from the University of Maryland College Park, where she continued in both dance and theater, and a JD from Seton Hall Law (admitted in NY and NJ). She wants to congratulate the entire creative team and talented West Essex students on Putnam County!

Art Director
Mrs. Alexa Lynchis excited to be part of another Masquers production. The English teacher in her revels in a musical about a spelling bee! She is thrilled to work alongside many familiar faces this year in paint crew, along with new members. Mrs. Lynch would like to thank the dedicated team of staff and students who make the program possible.

Stage Crew Manager
Anthony Cestone '23is a junior at West Essex. Putnam County is the second show that Anthony is the manager of the stage crew for. Anthony likes working with others and helping out with West Essex’s theater program. In his free time, Anthony enjoys woodworking and playing video games. Anthony is also a member of the Roseland Fire Department.

Stage Crew Manager
Logan Bogumil '23is a junior and has been in Stage Crew, Paint Crew, and Cast for 5 Masquers shows. Logan is also the Marching Knight's Assistant Drum Major and Chinese Club Vice President. He is so thankful to have worked with such great staff like Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. Hernandez, Mr. Conroy, Mrs. Drew, Ms. Maidman, Mr. Galioto, Mrs. Swanick, and his fellow Stage Manager Anthony Cestone. Break a leg, Cast & Crew!

Audio Manager
Gianna Lodato '23is a junior and is thrilled to be behind all of the sounds for PCSB. This is her fifth show with Masquers and second as a manager. She would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her and the directors for giving all of the Masquers members an outlet for their talents and creativity! She hopes the cast and crew break all of their limbs!

Art Manager
Nicole Szuba '23 is a junior and is honored and excited to be the Art Manager for the Masquers Paint Crew. Ever since freshman year, she has found a passion for working behind scenes for many productions, including Rosie the Riveter, Mamma Mia!, A Knight at the Theatre, Vintage Hitchcock, and the 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee. Nicole wishes the cast and crew a successful musical!
