In 1906, the Russian royal family dances in a palace, and young Anastasia receives a music box from her grandmother. Years later, in 1917, the palace is attacked, and only Anastasia's music box remains. In 1927, conmen Dmitry and Vlad plan to use rumors of Anastasia's survival to escape Russia. They meet Anya, an amnesiac street sweeper who agrees to impersonate Anastasia. Gleb, a loyal Soviet, becomes suspicious of their scheme. Dmitry and Anya grow closer as they aim to leave for Paris, facing obstacles along the way. In Paris, they meet the Dowager Empress and ultimately realize that Anya is the real Anastasia. Dmitry sacrifices his love for Anya, and she chooses a life with him over her royal heritage. Gleb confronts Anya but ultimately lets her go. The Dowager Empress announces the end of the Anastasia search, and Anya and Dmitry begin a new life together.

With classes in Acting, Voice, Dance, and Musical Theater, Mainstage uses the performing arts as a catalyst for individual expression and growth. Home to the Summer Stage program, along with the Harmony Show Choir.

Mainstage is funded through public and private grants, corporate sponsorship, private memberships and individual contributions. We receive financial support for many of our programs through funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
