We are proud to present an American Sign Language Interpreted performance on Friday, December 16!

Performances will take place over two weekends in December at Minnesota North College Mesabi Range Virginia campus.
Based on the beloved holiday film of the same name (book by Joseph Robinette), this time with a musical twist, the story
follows young Ralphie in the 1940s and his quest to acquire an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air
rifle for Christmas. Much to the chagrin of everybody Ralphie encounters who consistently remind him that he’ll shoot his
eye out. The show features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
The production will be directed by Iron Range theatre veteran Susan Nelson, Dorothy Sandness will serve as Musical
Director, and Dustin Davidson will oversee technical direction.

“This is our first all ages musical production since the COVID pandemic began,” said Lyric Executive Director Paul M.
Gregersen. “I can’t think of a better holiday show to entertain folks over the holidays. The Old Man’s infamous “major
award” leg lamp is going to look beautiful glowing through the front windows of the Lyric as we get closer to the holidays.”
Ralphie plots numerous schemes to achieve his desperate desire for the coveted BB gun. All the iconic scenes from the
movie are here: Flick, getting his tongue stuck to the flagpole; his brother, Randy, getting dressed in his snowsuit; the
bullies, Farkus and Dill; the aforementioned leg lamp award; the bunny suit; Christmas dinner; and many others.

The score ranges from gentle ballads to show-stopping full-ensemble numbers such as "Ralphie to the Rescue!", "A Major
Award", "Sticky Situation", "Up on Santa's Lap",& "Somewhere Hovering Over Indiana" and the inevitable "You'll Shoot Your
Eye Out!".

“This production will be a true community holiday project. We welcome actors from across the Iron Range to join the
production. It is going to be one to remember for a long time. Hopefully nobody loses an eye.” Gregersen said. “
A Christmas Story, The Musical will bring an exciting new dimension to those who have seen the movie and will certainly
stand on its own for those who haven't.
