Steven Hensle
Steven Hensle, Writer and Playwright (1992 - 2017) Steven often said, “Writing is a passion of mine.” He worked on fine tuning his craft of playwriting whenever he could. In fact, Steven had aspirations of “A Holiday Homecoming,” the very play you are watching this evening, would become an annual Lacey tradition. Coincidentally, the last time this show was on the Lacey Township High School stage was fourteen years ago, with Stevens' first draft being performed. Steven had the honor of directing the play he wrote, with some familiar names behind tonight's production being in the cast. Michael Mazzonna, Victoria Buczynski and Brian Strohmetz were all in the first debut and with the three of them Steven’s legacy continues. Steven grew up in Lacey Township where he envisioned being a local playwright. Although Steven was an avid soccer player, music and theatre is where he felt most at home. Throughout his school career Steven was part of the drama club, that’s where his friendships with Victoria, Michel and Joe Sramaty began and flourished! Two of Steven’s favorite roles he played happened in high school, his junior year he played Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors,” and his senior year he played Ren in “Footloose.” His passion for that arts didn't stop there, he was the drummer and lead singer with Quantum Leap. Theater followed Steven to Stockton, where he attended college, and he joined the production of “A Patch of Earth” as the Assistant Director. Steven’s star was bright and his smile was contagious. Steven was diagnosed with a brain tumor and through all the chemo and radiation, he was determined to graduate with a Bachelors of Art degree and he SUCCEEDED! Steven unfortunately lost his battle and was taken way too soon, but he continues to live in the hearts of his family and friends. Steven will always have a special place within Harbor Stage Theatre Company. Harbor Stage Theatre Company honors Steven with this production. This production has been in the works for the past seven years at Harbor Stage and has been a collaborative effort with creative additions that would make Steven proud. We know he is looking down, or sitting next to his family and friends, with his trademark smile and thumbs up!
