Dances/Character Coach/Creative Consultant
Judith RizzioJudith’s love of theater, and the fact that her sons attended Grant, led to her 25-year collaboration with Trisha Todd. When her boys were younger she also worked with teacher Jane Lindholm doing theater at Beaumont Middle School. As an artist in residence, Judith brings her experience with street theater, comedy, costuming, character development, choreography, and physical movement to Grant’s theater department as well as other Portland high schools.
Judith studied fine arts and theater at The Evergreen State College and toured with the school’s Chautauqua Theater Company in the early ’70s. The Family Circus Theater Collective recruited her and she came to Portland to be an actor and physical comedian with the political theater company. In 1976 Judith and a friend created the Fallen Angel Choir. The four women acapella group performed and sang satirical, holiday-themed political parodies across the Pacific Northwest for 21 years. Judith’s a life-long activist, and using her passion for theater as a vehicle for social change and personal expression continues to be her greatest joy.
