About Spamalot: School Edition

Spamalot – School Edition is a wildly entertaining musical comedy inspired by the cult-classic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This fast-paced, laugh-out-loud adventure follows King Arthur and his not-quite-noble Knights of the Round Table as they set off on an epic (and often ridiculous) quest to find the Holy Grail. Along the way, they encounter unforgettable characters, absurd obstacles, and a series of musical numbers that gleefully poke fun at everything from medieval legend to modern Broadway itself.

Specially adapted for student performers, Spamalot: School Edition captures all the wit, satire, and theatrical spectacle of the original Broadway hit in a school-appropriate format. With clever dialogue, high-energy ensemble moments, and plenty of visual comedy, the show celebrates creativity, teamwork, and the joy of not taking oneself too seriously—making it as fun for performers as it is for audiences.

Due to the show’s style, themes, and frequent comedic innuendo, the production is best enjoyed by audiences ages 12 and up. While younger children are welcome at the discretion of their caregivers, some material and humor may not be suitable for or fully understood by younger audiences.

Bursting with irreverent humor, catchy songs, and unexpected surprises, Spamalot: School Edition is a crowd-pleasing theatrical event that appeals to longtime Monty Python fans and newcomers alike. Audiences can expect an evening of nonstop laughter, memorable characters, and just enough silliness to remind us all why live theater is such a joyful shared experience.

Whether you’re a longtime Monty Python fan or discovering the silliness for the first time, this is one theatrical adventure you won’t want to miss.

Come for the laughs. Stay for the SPAM.

Gonzaga College High School

The Gonzaga Dramatic Association (GDA) stages two shows each academic year—one in the fall and one in the spring. Over the years, the GDA has staged everything from comedies and dramas to mysteries and musicals. Its members are involved in every aspect of the productions—they build and paint sets, design and sew costumes, serve as stage managers, operate the spotlights, and, of course, act, sing, and dance on stage.

All of the GDA's performances take place in Gonzaga’s Sheehy Theater, the oldest continually-operating theater in the original federal district of Washington. Built in 1896, it has hosted at least one production every year since. In 2013, the 800-seat theater was completely renovated, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and equipment as well as a two-story Theater Arts Center with a set construction shop and mirrored rehearsal space.
