About TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE

TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.

GARRY'S GARBLES:

For 2022, ETC is adapting the idea that one has to come to terms with their past in order to take a step into their future.   The Covid Shutdown taught us to really embrace our past, our mistakes, our successes, our fortunes and our losses and learn from them.  As we embarked on choosing a lineup of shows for this season, we kept that overarching idea in mind.  TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE is not a story about a man with a terminal illness, but a story about a man who needs to remember who he was so that he can appreciate what it was that made him special.  So many times we get focused on their end result, the goal and how we measure success, that we forget simple gestures and genuine interest might impact another person's life.

Take a moment and think back 20 years ago, was there someone you had a connection with then that you don't have now?  What insight could that person give to you about who you were, that might improve who you are now?  Watch this story, take it personally, leave enlightened.  That's the power of live theatre.
