August Wilson's The Piano Lesson Cast

Don McClendon (Doaker)
A versatile veteran St. Louis actor,Don had worked in several areas of theater, film, television and radio, all in the St. Louis area. In the past couple of years, he had been cast in several area shows including playing the role of “Larry” in Chrys Yvette’s Production of “The Dating Game” at the Regional Arts Commission performance space, A Senator in St. Louis Shakespeare Company’s production of “Coriolanus”, Reverend Sykes in InSight Theater’s production of “To Kill A Mockingbird” at the Heageny Theater, and revisiting the role of Joseph Asagai (Season 2000) in Unity Theater Ensemble’s production of “A Raisin In The Sun”. And earlier that year, cast in the role of Special Agent Lewis in Richard LaVolette’s one-act play, “The Kepash Affair” at First Run Theater. Appearing also in several films shot in St. Louis. The latest being "Green Thumb" and“Shadowland” produced by Pirate Pictures, and “Up In The Air” Executive Produced by George Clooney. Recently fininshed a city-wide tour of "Julius Ceasar" with the St. Louis Black Reperatory Theater,and an award winning film short produced by Pirate Pictures titled, "Green Thumb" for a month-long showing at St. Louis CityGarden in downtown St. Louis. In the fall of 2013, he appeared on stage for the St. Louis Shakepeare Festival's "Shakespeare In The Streets" presentation of "Old Hearts Fresh" (The Winter's Tale) in the role of "The Old Shepard" and as "Hank" in First Run Theatre's "Spectrum" one-act series, "The Black Hole Boxer".
Zachary Clark (Boy Willie)
Zachary Scott Clark in an American Actor, Director, Producer and coach based in the metropolitan St. Louis area. At the age of 13, Zach began his career performing stand-up comedy at his church talent show. From there, Zach has gone on to host STL TV’s programs “Close Up” and “Taking It to the Streets.” His creative flair has landed diverse projects that range from working alongside John Goodman for Explore St. Louis and portraying Hall of Famer Bob Gibson in a St. Louis Cardinals tribute. His first film role, James in “Joint Body”, came in 2010 starring Mark Pellegrino and Alicia Witt. With these projects gaining him notice, Zach starred in live theater roles starting with JPek Creative Work’s musical, “Real Life.” That powerful performance secured an opportunity to play the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the well-received production of “The Meeting.” No stranger to high-profile projects, NBC’s Chicago Fire showcases Zach as Alec Burks, a severely injured firefighter hoping for justice amidst tragedy. While completely comfortable onscreen, Zach also works diligently behind the camera directing “Pieces of Forever,” a documentary about the relationships between education, music, and film presented by the St. Louis Symphony & Centene Center for the Arts. The 2021 film, Honorable, follows the pivotal relationship between Muhammad Ali, Maya Angelou, and Malcolm X, where Zach dons multiple hats as Lead Actor, Co-Director, and Producer. Recently, Zach can be found as Ottoman Moore, in the modern Othello-inspired film “Oscar.Tango.Hellwater.” In all areas of expression, Zach aims to display optimism and focus on uniting, uplift, and overcome obstacles. He extends this vision as an Acting Coach and has taught Fundamental Acting for grades 6-8 while leading seminars for collegiate students and adults. Dennis Jethroe (Wining Boy)
Dennis Jethroe II is an East St. Louis native who has been acting for more than 30 years. Acting has taken him all over the U.S. from LA's Wiltern theater to the New Orleans Saenger theater and even the Fabulous Fox. Acting is truly his passion. No role is too big or too small. He is inspired to continue to chase his dreams each and every single day by his awesome wife and kids! His motto is "never give up, no matter what".

Alexander Christian aka Smoogie(what the entertainment world knows him by) is an Actor/Standup Comedian who travels the country making people laugh. His first passion is acting. He's been featured in Plays, Tv Shows and movies featured on Amazon and Tubi. He's also been featured on Kevin Hart's LoL network.
Larry Green (Avery)
Larry Greene is a comedian/actor from St. Louis, MO. He’s known for his charm and witty sense of humor. He’s the first comedian to win both the Helium Comedy Club competition & the St. Louis Funny Bone competition in the same year. He has worked at many clubs throughout the country including the Laugh Factory Chicago, Comedy in Harlem Comedy club, & the Comedy Union in LA. He’s opened for many comics including Paul Mooney, Tommy Davidson, and many more. He produces an annual sell-out show titled “But Baby I Love You” that’s 9 years running. As an actor he took a liking to the stage during college when he was selected by his Black Theater Professor to play the role of Cephus Miles in the play titled HOME. This took place in Lagos, NG & Ibadan, NG. He was offered this opportunity after playing the role of Dr. King in the play titled The Meeting by Jeff Stetson.

Arriel holds a BFA from University of Missouri- St. Louis. Jada Little (Maretha)
Jada Little (Maretha) is thrilled to be joining The Piano Lesson this year. Jada is 12 years old and enjoys writing, making skits and being goofy. This will be Jada’s third play. When she was seven years old, she appeared in The Annie Malone Story (C2C theater) at the Missouri History Museum as young Annie. Jada was also a part of the cast for The Christmas Carol at the Repertory Theater of St. Louis.
