About DTASC 100th Anniversary Gala

This formal event celebrates 100 years of DTASC festivals, and is a chance to see old friends, make new ones, and record your memories of DTASC to put on our YouTube site.

The Drama Teachers' Association of Southern California (DTASC) held its first Shakespeare Festival in 1920. For a number of years, it was Shakespeare only. Later they added the Fall Festival, with modern plays. Event variations for the coming year are selected at the June business meeting.

This Gala was originally planned for 2020, which would have been exactly 100 years. However, the pandemic interfered, and we had to postpone, but it's really happening this year! So come join us!

The Drama Teachers’ Association of Southern California (DTASC) is celebrating over 100 years as an organization. From its inception, it has served the dramatic education needs of Southern California.

From the Shakespeare Festival of 1920 to the festivals of 2022, DTASC brings together in competition the best student performers in multiple counties: Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura.

DTASC also provides scholarships for students continuing their education in the performing arts. Auditions for the DTASC Scholarships are held every May

DTASC is a non-profit, volunteer organization composed of educators in the field of theatre.

Active membership is open to any person teaching any phase of drama  in middle, junior high or high schools throughout southern California.
