About Little Shop of Horrors
A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.
The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his coworker crush. This R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!
Dighton Rehoboth Regional High School
The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School Theatre Company presents a play in the fall and a musical in the spring. We offer theatre courses such as Drama Workshop and Advanced Theatre Arts Honors. The advanced class produces two plays annually and participates in Trinity Rep's Write Here Write Now playwriting contest. Each spring, the class hosts a one-act play festival featuring student-written and directed works. Guest artists in the theatre industry visit to collaborate with students. Additionally, we offer an early college course in collaboration with Bridgewater State University titled Introduction to Acting, which focuses on acting theory and allows students to earn both D-R and BSU credits.
We proudly house The International Thespian Society Troupe 8193, an honor society that acknowledges and celebrates student accomplishments in theatre. Our students' work is showcased as a national exemplar on the National Core Art Standards Website in the Advanced Acting category. Many of our students pursue theatre studies in college and advance to professional careers in the field. The Educational Theatre Association has honored us as a Premier Community for Theatre Education, a distinction held by only fifty schools nationwide. We are proud to be the sole recipient of this honor in New England.
