About Short Plays Festival
Join the Department of Creative Arts for a festival of five short plays.
Charlottery, written and directed by Claire F. Martin, is a 40-minute one-act about a 21st-century online dating experiment.
“Letters to the Bedroom,” written by Sadie Collins and directed by Robby Myles, features a series of vignettes that take place in a variety of bedrooms. Run time: approximately 30 minutes
“Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread," by David Ives and directed by Toby Emert, imagines a mundane moment in Glass's life--buying bread at a bakery and remembering a past love. Run time: approximately 16 minutes
“A Voice in the Dark: A Salem Story,” by Elizabeth Downing, is produced by Blackfriars, the student theatre club, and directed by Emma Anne Stephens and Grace Gipson. As seen through the eyes of a young woman, the play dramatizes a witch-hunt in Salem, Massachusetts. Run time: approximately 60 minutes
“Winter Rites" is a devised immersive performance, facilitated by Louis Kyper, and created by its cast and several guest artists. Run time: approximately 15 minutes

The Department of Creative Arts at Agnes Scott offers five different concentrations within the major: Dance, Digital Media, Music, Theatre, and Visual Practices (Art and Art History) to cultivate a well-rounded, interdisciplinary artistic practice.
