Nunsense Cast
Joan Mattingly (Mother Superior Mary Regina)Originally from Washington, D.C., Joan Mattingly came to the Chicago area to go to a college run by the same order of nuns that had taught her from 1st through 12th grade. The first role she remembers is as an alligator in 4th grade. The prince for her 7th grade Cinderella was an 8th Grade girl who went on to become a cloistered Carmelite nun. In college, she became involved in community theater, playing roles in productions from Waukegan to Old Town. Over the years she has appeared in productions closer to her Park Ridge home, some with various of her children. Her most recent role was Meg Boyd in Des Plaines’ St. Stephen’s Gaslight Players’ production of Damn Yankees. A licensed architect and mother of 12, Joan is Chair of Park Ridge’s Historic Preservation Commission and writes a monthly column on Park Ridge history for STROLL Park Ridge.
Valerie Adegunleye (Sister Robert Anne)Valerie was raised in Trego Wisconsin. During her high school years she was involved in Theater in The Woods community theater in Shell Lake, WI; however has not been on a stage in that capacity since. After earning her degree in Dietetics and Chemistry from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point she began her career as a Registered Dietitian in the Washington DC metro area. She met her husband, Osha, in February 2005 after just a few e-mails exchanged. They got married in 2006 and now have two handsome sons, Stephen (16) and Alexander (12). Valerie has worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2007 and the VA helped get them back to the Midwest, closer to her family in 2014. When she is not working or cheering on her boys in their activities she enjoys music, crafts, traveling and cooking/baking. This is her first show with Darien Arts Council and is excited to be part of the group – special thanks to her husband and sons for the support!
Cassondra Kippes (Sister Mary Amnesia)Casey continues to expand her theater skills in Nunsense, her fourth Darien Arts Council musical theater production (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Working, Goosebumps A Musical – Phantom of the Auditorium).
In her “real” life, Casey is a Senior Systems Engineer for a global company specializing in data integrity – a career that was completely unexpected and different than her degree in Music Education suggested she would pursue.
Aside from her love of singing, Casey enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing the piano and organ, reading, and avid crafting.
Thanks to Paul and Caitlin for all their support!
Nancy Urban (Sister Mary Hubert)Nancy Urban is originally from Syracuse, NY. She has been involved in theatre as a performer and choreographer from age 10. Nancy created and ran a Musical Theatre Workshop for young people as well as a Glee Club and Acting Class for 12 years at the Darien Park District. She has appeared in the DAC's production of Working and has directed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor DreamCoat, Working and most recently Goosebumps the Phantom of the Auditorium for the DAC.
Nancy sits on the Board of Directors for the Darien Chamber of Commerce. She has also been a Private Voice/Piano teacher as well as a Vocal Coach in the Darien Area for the last 18+ years. She currently thoroughly enjoys her job as a Music Educator for SEASPAR and, of course, being President of the Darien Arts Council.
Nancy considers her work with her students at SEASPAR some of the most important work she's ever done ( other than raising an amazing child).
Thanks to Hana, Lad, Allyson for their constant patience and understanding. Enjoy the show!
Allyson Renell (Sister Mary Leo)Originally from the Northwest Suburbs, Allyson has lived in Darien since 2019. She enjoys reading, eating tasty food, attending concerts, and hanging out with her husband and two daughters. Allyson is a children's librarian and has worked in libraries for over 20 years. She loves to dance, sing, and create with kids in her job. Nunsense is Allyson's second production with the Darien Arts Council and it has been so much fun!
Joshua Johnson (Co-Director)Hello, my name is Joshua Johnson. I have been working with the DAC since mid 2023 learning what it takes to make the magic of theatre come alive! It’s been a journey seeing what directors do and being able to work as a director for this production!
Kellie Kerfin (Stage Manager/Assistant)Kellie has resided in Darien for over 20 years with her husband and children (furry and two legged alike). Her love of the arts includes theater, music, dance, and literature. When she isn't terrorizing thrift shops looking for the next great costume or faking her way through sewing someone into their clothing she aides students in academics at the local middle school.Once eager for the spotlight, now you’ll find her behind a soundboard or or lurking in the shadows curtain shuffling people and props to their proper place. Thank you to her family for all of their love and support!
