About Alexander Technique Workshop

This two-hour workshop will offer an introduction to the Alexander Technique, a simple and practical way to help performers, athletes, (or anyone) cultivate their natural coordination and awareness, come into a deeper relationship with their body, and find the easy poise that comes with moving in cooperation with their design. Participants will get an overview of the principles of AT work and a chance to experiment with implementing these strategies in their own activities or performance. Everyone will leave with some practical tools they can use to explore the benefits of greater ease and integration in their own lives.

AT has been taught for over a hundred years and is part of the curriculum at conservatories and universities around the world. Haynes Brooke, a professional actor for over 35 years, was certified as an Alexander Technique teacher by the Alexander Training Institute Los Angeles and currently works with BFA and MFA acting students at Cal Arts and teaches privately at his studio in Burbank. Haynes is an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique.

Participants should wear clothes they can move in and are encouraged to bring a monologue, song, or other activity they would like to practice with ease.
