About A Midsummer Night's Dream

Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream (a fundraiser for Hamlet 2020), adapted by Arne Zaslove, directed by Artistic Director of Programs Susanna Wilson.

This concert version of the famous play opens with Athens High School preparing the graduation festivities for the Class of 1957. Complications ensue… you know that. But you’ve probably never heard Helena croon “I Will Follow Him” or Puck warble “Why Do Fools Fall in Love?” Shakespeare’s language is unchanged – but enhanced by the perfect placement of crowd-pleasing songs from the golden age of rock ‘n’ roll.

The doors open at 6pm for our Exclusive Donors to enjoy light refreshments and drinks while mingling with the cast and directors during a private performance just for them. At 6:30pm we welcome all of our Guests to join in for refreshments, a wine pull, and a short presentation introducing the company. Show begins at 7pm, with more fun during intermission, including a dessert auction!
