After losing his little sister to an abduction, Julian’s life falls apart. Five years later, he’s still picking up the pieces when he meets the talented (but troubled) Cassidy. A contemporary tale filled with love, humor, and hope, Not For Sale follows our characters through a span of ten years and across two hemispheres. 

Inspired by Dominic Balli’s album, Not For Sale, the story for the stage by Christina Balli Haemmerle (Balli’s sister) and Teresa McClintock (Balli’s mother) celebrates the dignity of each human life and the love that can triumph over even the hardest of times. Not For Sale is a brand-new musical being workshopped in collaboration with Community Players Theatre. The creative team is confident that our audience will be captivated by its heart-felt story and Balli’s uplifting and powerful music.

Content advisory: The musical does address the issue of human trafficking. We consider it PG-10, as some scenes may elicit strong emotional responses. However, the content is generally family-friendly and ultimately carries a positive, inspiring message.

Orchestra Seating is reserved, so be sure to choose your preferred seats when purchasing tickets. General Admission is open seating, so you will not be able to choose seats when purchasing tickets. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the show to find good seats.

Discounted tickets = $5 off. Discounted tickets available for seniors (55+), children (under 12) & students, and military. Lap-sitting youngsters are free.

Not For Sale Synopsis

When Julian's family loses his ten-year-old sister to an abduction, the family copes in the best ways they know how, but sadly, the family falls apart. Five years later, the resilient older brother, Julian, working at Loveya Latte Coffee Shop, meets mentors and friends, including Cassidy, a troubled but talented teen. Julian and Cassidy fall in love. When Cassidy is forced by her oppressively controlling father (a powerful record company executive) to move to Nashville for the career he has planned for her, the couple writes a love song together and promise to stay in touch. Cassidy, now “Cash,” becomes a famous pop star and breaks that promise to spare Julian the wrath of her controlling father. She and Julian lose touch.

Five years later, although Julian took a harsh path to cope with losing Cash, kind mentors help him heal and he becomes a paramedic and a regular volunteer for an organization, UNBOUND AS ONE, whose mission is to rescue exploited young people and help them recover. Cash, caring deeply about Julian’s family story, also has the same heart to help these young people. In a bold move, she makes a break-away from her contract with her father, announcing that she is heading to Australia to do a benefit concert for UNBOUND. Julian and Cash are unaware of each other’s plans for Australia. When the star-crossed couple crosses paths at UNBOUND, sparks fly and misunderstandings abound as several other plot twists and surprises unfold. When Victor and Anna, UNBOUND’s dedicated leaders, exemplify and share the love that can overcome heartache, injury, and even the worst of tragedies, conflicts begin to be resolved and the hope and dreams of better days ahead shine brightly in the end.

Behind-the-Scenes

An all-new musical Not For Sale is inspired by and features music by Dominic Balli, a Christian artist local to Southern California. This all-new musical will be workshopped at Community Players Theatre this fall, with auditions in August, and show dates in November. While production continues to ramp up, look out for updates on a benefit concert coming this Fall - featuring Dominic Balli! - to raise funds for this production.
