Winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, HADESTOWN is an intriguing and beautiful folk opera that delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone — HADESTOWN invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.

In keeping with the vision of founder Roberta Jones, since 1969, Roberta Jones Junior Theatre provides youth in Santa Clara with high-quality recreational experiences in theatre arts. All children are welcome to participate on stage and backstage in our productions.

Our program fosters a strong sense of place and community for participants and the general public. Youth are given opportunities for self-expression in a fun, safe environment where they improve self-esteem, confidence, and social skills while learning the value of personal responsibility from adult role models.
