About Sweeney Todd-School Edition

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the judge who framed him and attacked his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the story has only just begun!

Widely considered to be Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece, Sweeney Todd has become a worldwide success since being awarded eight Tony Awards (including Best Musical), for its Broadway premiere and has now been adapted for high school performers in Sweeney Todd: School Edition. Central Columbia High School Theatre is proud to bring this epic production to the stage. Sweeney Todd: School Edition is recommended for audiences aged 13 and above.

Central Columbia High School Theatre

Central Columbia High School Theatre has a long history dating back to the opening of the school in 1961. We are quite fortunate to be a part of a school district that strongly embraces the arts and provides our students with many opportunities to pursue their talents. A vibrant organization, CCHS Theatre students work in all areas of a production including acting, dancing, singing, backstage tech, set creation, costuming, light & sound design, and hair & makeup.

Our students enjoy incredible community support and we are pleased to be able to bring a production to the stage each year. Recent past productions include Newsies, Something Rotten, Clue: On Stage, The Little Mermaid, Mamma Mia, and Les Miserables. Central Columbia High School Theatre believes strongly that students involved in all aspects of a show learn skills that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives including public speaking skills, the ability to collaborate as a member of a team, problem-solving, and creative thinking. We hope that you will join us for this year's production!
