Les Misérables (School Edition) Creative

Director
Peter Bowley
Peter is an alum of Burlington High School (Class of 2015) and returned in 2023 to direct the BHS Drama Program. He attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he trained with the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and graduated in 2019 with a BFA in Theatre and a Minor in Animal Studies. He is also a recipient of the NYU Founder's Day Award. Peter believes strongly in creating an inclusive, open-minded, and welcoming environment for students to grow and have fun. Outside of BHS Drama, Peter enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Mollyanne, and his two cats, Jonesy and Dracula. He can be found hiking the mountains of Vermont with his dad, playing Yu-Gi-Oh!, or watching a movie at Essex Cinemas.
Assistant Director
Candice Bryan-Broe
Candice has been working in theater, film, and performance art for over 30 years, which basically makes her a walking Playbill. She joined Burlington High School’s Drama Program as Assistant Director in December 2023 and has been wrangling incredibly passionate (and occasionally chaotic) students ever since. She is also the co-founder of Ready Steady LLC, a woman-owned production company that specializes in crafting impactful stories for stage, screen and beyond. Candice is fueled by her love of storytelling and her belief that there’s no such thing as “too much drama”—as long as it stays on stage. Over her career, she’s worn many hats (and wigs): actor, director, choreographer, producer, and occasional stagehand whisperer. Candice initially joined the program hoping to make a difference in young people's lives. Instead, the students in BHS's Drama Program have profoundly impacted her life, reminding her why she fell in love with storytelling in the first place. When not in the theater, she enjoys cosplaying, singing show tunes at full volume, and trying to explain to her family why glitter is a perfectly reasonable household accessory.
Music Director
Myriam Bouti
Myriam Bouti attended Queen's University and received a Bachelor of Music (Voice) degree from the Dan School of Drama and Music as well as a Bachelor of Education (Music & French). She moved back to Vermont in 2020 and has been highly involved in music and education throughout the state since her return. Myriam believes in having a positive impact on youth, providing engaging and educational experiences, and allowing young people to thrive both as individuals and as a community in a safe, inclusive, and trusted environment. Myriam joined the BHS faculty as Choir Director in 2023. She is delighted to be the Music Director for the BHS Drama Program and is grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented, dedicated, and gregarious performers. In addition to BHS, Myriam serves as the Musical Theater Program Director at her alma mater, Missisquoi Valley Union Middle & High School. She also works at the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association as the Operations Assistant & Lesson/Community Programs Manager. One of Myriam's favorite places in the world is Camp Exclamation Point where she volunteers every August to help provide a week-long residential camp experience to under-served rural Vermont kids.

After high school, she attended college to study Music Education and worked her way through school as a staff accompanist. She has played around the country and around the world for various choirs and ensembles. She began working for the BHS Drama Department and their choirs in 2016.  When she’s not accompanying around Vermont, she can be found spending time with her husband Anthony, her two sons Jeremiah and Isaac, and their dog Eddie.
