About Arsenic & Old Lace

Arsenic and Old Lace is a three-act play written by Joseph Kesselring, first performed in 1941. The story revolves around the Brewster family, particularly two elderly sisters, Abby and Martha, who live in a Brooklyn home. They are known for their kindness, but they harbor a dark secret: they have been poisoning lonely old men with their homemade elderberry wine laced with arsenic, believing they are helping them find peace.
