About 21 Chump Street
Lin-Manuel Miranda's 21 Chump Street is a 14-minute musical based on a true story as reported in the series This American Life. 21 Chump Street is a cautionary tale of Justin, a high school honors student who falls for a cute transfer girl. Justin goes to great lengths to oblige Naomi's request for marijuana in the hopes of winning her affection - only to find out that his crush is actually an undercover cop planted in the school to find drug dealers. 21 Chump Street discusses the ramifications of peer pressure, conformity and drug use in our schools with a message that will stay with teenagers long after they leave the theater.

Opened since 1969 Broad Run Theatre strive to empower our students through the performing arts. Our motto is big voices, big choice! This year has been a little different to say the least in the format this show was brought to you. But, nevertheless students voice and choice was the deciding factor in everything presented today. From direction, stage management, technical design, editing, costuming, and acting Broad Run Theatre empowers students to dare to take a chance and empower them in creative roles and problem solving. This was a huge undertaking, taking a full length stage show and adapting it to film, but our students rose to the challenge!
