Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR.

Welcome to the Big Sandy Performing Arts Center (or the Small Gym, as we  like to call it)

Beauty and the Beast JR. tells the story of Belle, an adventurous young girl, and the Beast, her hideous captor who is actually a young prince trapped under a spell. In order to break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and earn that love in return – before time runs out.  With the help of the castle’s enchanted staff, including a loving teapot, a charming candelabra, and a nervous mantel clock, Belle and the Beast find a beautiful friendship and a love that neither knew was possible. Beauty and the Beast JR. features classic songs from the Academy Award®-winning film score such as “Be Our Guest” and “Belle,” as well as original songs from the 1994 Tony®-nominated Broadway musical.

So, “Be Our Guest”, sit back and enjoy the talents of the HS Drama class.

Big Sandy Schools

Welcome to Big Sandy Schools!

Located in Simla, CO, Big Sandy Schools provides excellence in education to students in K-12th grade. Our small community excels in academics, sports, arts and in the performing arts. Big Sandy provides avenues to meet the interests of all our students.

Big Sandy and the surrounding Simla community have been a great source of support for our performing arts students. The Simla High School Drama students have also adventured into the realm of musical theatre, daring to perform Broadway JR Edition musicals annotated for performance by secondary students. In cooperation with educational theatrical licensing agencies such as MTI, Pioneer Drama, and others, Simla High School is dedicated to offering educational theatre, meeting the needs of various types of performers.

Music Theatre International (MTI) is one of the world’s leading dramatic licensing agencies, granting schools as well as amateur and professional theatres from around the world the rights to perform the largest selection of great musicals from Broadway and beyond.  MTI works directly with the composers, lyricists and book writers of these shows to provide official scripts, musical materials and dynamic theatrical resources to over 60,000 theatrical organizations in the US and in over 60 countries worldwide. www.mtishows.com

Now, Simla HS is also providing students with the skills to work on the technical side of stage theater. Students are learning stage management, costume design, sound, lighting, backdrop and stage design, backstage coordination, marketing, box office, budgeting, scheduling, filmography and all aspects of putting on a great play.

Thank you, faculty and administration for supporting the drama students. We have such a talented group of students and when we allow their imaginations to fly, there are no limits!
Thank you, parents, for sharing your students and letting them shine!
Thank you, students, for making me laugh, for driving me crazy, and for making me look forward to my job every day!!  You are remarkable!!
