The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Cast

Remy is a senior at BHS, and is so excited to play Olive Ostrovsky in their 7th BHSDC production!!! They're so glad to have made it so far. Some of their previous shows have been Pippin (ensemble) Fahrenheit 451 (stage crew), and Shrek the Musical (The Dragon). Remy thanks the entire cast for working together to make this show a blast, and especially their double Ellie O’Toole and stage managers Sophie Mendoza and Jack Bertling for helping Remy through the ups and downs of acting in their biggest role yet. Matthew is a 15-year-old freshman at Barnstable High School. Matthew's second appearance in the BHSDC will be in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His first appearance was in Shrek the Musical as The Big Bad Wolf. He is very excited to be in this production and can’t wait to show you all the hard work he and the entire cast has put into this production.

Maddy Brown is a 16-year-old junior at Barnstable High School. Putnam is her second show with the Barnstable High School Drama Club, the first being Shrek, where she was cast as Humpty Dumpty. She is very excited to show her take on the role of Vice Principal Panch and hopes to create an entertaining and, hopefully, amusing performance for the audience. Maddy has been part of a few small singing and acting groups such as Rockapella in middle school and in an acting class at the Cape Cod Collaborative Camp “ASLP” at Massachusetts Maritime academy for three weeks. She is excited to share the stage with her longest friend Olivia Thompson and a few more of her very close friends such as Laik O’Reilly and Lucy Sherman. She hopes you enjoy the show and have a few good laughs while watching!

Maryana Crawley is thrilled to play the lovely Rona Lisa Peretti in Barnstable High School's showing of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee! Recently she has been in Addams Family (HJT) as Wednesday Addams. She was also seen there in Elf The Musical as well as Once On this Island. Maryana was seen playing Ali in Mamma Mia (Cape Rep) over the summer. In her Junior year at Barnstable she played Princess Fiona in Shrek The Musical alongside some of her current castmates. She would like to thank her family and best friends Sophie, Sigourney, and Jhulia for being her fabulous, and tremendously supportive, fanbase through and through. Delilah is a freshman at Barnstable High School. She is honored to be a part of this year's production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!! Previously, she played the Fairy Godmother in last year's production of Shrek: The Musical, as well as other shows in theatre workshops. In her free time, Delilah likes to write, read, sing, and daydream. She would like to thank her family, and everybody working to make this show happen!!

Martina is a sophomore at Barnstable High School and plays Olive’s Mom in this BHSDC Production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Martina’s passions are singing and performing so she is very excited, happy, and grateful to be playing the character of Olive’s Mom. Martina has been part of Kids On Broadway here on Cape Cod and she has a YouTube channel in which she posts covers of songs in English and Spanish. Other than that she sings in the Chamber Choir of BHS, she is part of the Vocal Jazz BHS group and she has sung the national anthem for the Cotuit Kettleers Baseball Team. She is always singing any time she has the opportunity!

Lena is in her senior year at Barnstable, only speaks four languages, and has a decently sized vocabulary - though her spelling prowess remains to be seen. This is her third show as a member of the Drama Club, and she looks forward to sharing the experience with her fellow cast and crew! (She promises to live up to everyone’s expectations.)

Aidan McDowell is in his senior year at Barnstable High School. This is the second production he is doing with the BHSDC, the first being Shrek, where he played the role of captain of the guard. He is extremely excited to have the opportunity to play the role of Chip, and has been excited about this production since summer vacation. He couldn’t imagine a better cast for the show, and couldn’t ask for any better instructors and directors. This show has become a labor of love for Aidan, and for all of us.

Ellie is in her senior year at BHSDC, and is overjoyed to be doing a fall production. She has spent her years running around the Knight and the PAC and she couldn’t imagine a better group of performers to spend her last year of high school with. After playing Fiona in Shrek, Ellie is now the president of the Drama Club. It has been extremely rewarding for her to help out with a club that has given her so much support over the years. She's really excited to be involved this year, and cannot wait for all that the BHSDC has planned. She'd like to thank all of the directors and musical directors for all the time and effort they have dedicated to us. Most importantly she's extremely grateful for her cousins, siblings and parents who have continued to support her endeavors.

Bobby is a proud BHSDC member who couldn’t be happier to be back working with the newest, super-talented cast of “Putnam Spelling Bee.” Since graduation in 2001, he’s played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Farquaad in Shrek the Musical, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast and many other roles in local theater productions, thanks to his time and experience at BHS.

Olivia is a 16-year-old junior at Barnstable High School and a dual enrollment student at Cape Cod Community College. Her most recent roles include Briar Rose in Sleeping Beauty: Briar Rose, an art student and a woman in the concentration camp in Red Swans, a world premiere, and Ziggy in Three Little Birds which was a regional premiere at Cape Cod Theatre Company. She’s also been in her high school’s productions, and was Minihata in Over A Barrel, which was a radio show with Cape Noir Radio. For the last two years she’s acted with the Young Company at Cape Rep Theatre and hopes to continue through her senior year. Apart from acting she enjoys singing, reading and writing, and fashion design. This show was so fun to be a part of and she hopes you enjoy the it!

Keely is a 15 year old Sophomore at Barnstable High School. This is her second show with BHSDC, the first being Shrek, when she played the Sugar Plum Fairy. Keely is very passionate in anything that involves music and performing. She participates in multiple extracurricular activities such as Vocal Jazz, Tri-M Music Honors Society, Girls in Stem, GSA and also is in the BHS Chamber Choir. In the future, she wants to pursue Musical Theater as a career. She is extremely excited to be playing such a fun role with such a caring group of people and would like to thank the wonderful cast, crew and director for making such a wonderful show possible.

Jack is a sophomore this year and is new to the BHSDC, although he has some experience with the BIS Drama Club and Summer Family Theater when he was little. Jack is currently being trained to become the next BHSDC Stage Manager once Sophie graduates, so he is very excited to learn all about the ins and outs of backstage. In his free time, Jack enjoys drawing and taking long naps.

Olivia is a sophomore at Barnstable High School. They were a lighting designer for Shrek the Musical, The 2022 BHS Fashion Show, and Dance Design's summer showcase. They are very excited to be working on lights again for Putnam.

Maggie is currently a junior at BHS and the publicity director of the BHSDC (which basically means she's in charge of the social media and advertising for all the shows this year)! One of Maggie's biggest hobbies is creating art, and she loves to integrate that into the advertisements and shows! She also does a lot of backstage work as well, most often set building and making props. She's ready and willing to make the shows as best as they can be! Maggie is incredibly excited to be a part of the drama club and working with all the members! There is truly an amazing team here, and she can't wait to show everyone what they can do!

Sophie Mendoza is graduating this year. She’s tired.

Will is a 15 year old sophomore at Barnstable High School. This is Will's second year running spotlight, and he is just as eager this year. Being a part of this production, or any production, is a truly amazing experience that he can't recommend enough to others. Will spends most of his free time skateboarding and painting, and he is excited to see how this all comes together.

Jordan is sophomore here at Barnstable High School and is in her second year as a BHSDC member and first year as a BHSDC officer. Jordan calls herself a "Techie" and has helped put on recitals, award ceremonies and even fashion shows with her skills that the BHSDC taught her. She is a member and supporter of the Barnstable High School Music Department in which she takes classes like Concert Chorale and Piano! Jordan enjoys doing other activities such as being Historian for the BHSDC and Social Media Manager for the BHS Gay/Straight Alliance. She also wants to give a huge thank you to Ms. Wytrwal (Wytty), Ms. Lariviere, Mr. Kohler (Dee-Daw), Mrs. Barth and all the other amazing staff and students in this club!
