Based on the beloved novel by Madeleine L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time tells the story of a group of children who travel (tesser) through space and time, befriend wondrous creatures from across the universe, and fight the powers of darkness to save their family and the world.

The Bancroft Theatre Arts afterschool program was re-established in 2022. We produce a fall play and a spring play each year, with more than 50 students from all grade levels in the cast and crew for each show! Our students go on to perform and design for San Leandro High School Performing Arts and other performing arts high schools.

Our fall plays are performed at Bancroft on our gym stage, and starting in 2025 we have been performing our spring plays at San Leandro High School Arts Education Center. All of our lights, sound, set, props, and costumes are designed by students, and our mainstage productions are stage managed by students and directed by Stella Ziegler.
