Katina Kumar (Artistic Director | Co-Executive Director)Katina Kumar was born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, where she began her training with Berks Ballet Theatre. She remained a company performer with them through her senior year in high school, receiving lead roles in the conservatory’s classical and contemporary performances; and, she was awarded scholarships of excellence in contemporary and classical performance at Regional Dance America.
After graduating Valedictorian of her high school class, Katina went on to receive her B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Adelphi University in New York. At Adelphi, Katina trained closely under Frank Augustyn in classical ballet and many styles of modern. Katina was privileged to perform in a variety of repertoire including, solos from "La Esmeralda," "Napoli," and "Don Quixote," Martha Graham repertoire, original choreography of Adelheid B. Strelick, William Briscoe, and many more! Throughout her collegiate years, Katina danced professionally with companies such as Eglevsky Ballet and was a principal guest artist with American Theater Dance Workshop and Glen Cove Ballet.
In 2017, upon graduating summa cum laude, Katina became a founding company artist with Magnum Opus located in Madison, Wisconsin. While dancing with the company, Katina trained to become a licensed Progressing Ballet Technique instructor and in the Leap ‘n’ Learn curriculum. During Summer 2018, she became certified in Adaptive Dance through Boston Ballet. As a teacher of over 11 years and having experience working with the special needs, elderly and infirmed, as well as underprivileged communities, Katina’s priority is to inspire and encourage each and every one of her students.
Katina was named Director of Ballet at HappyFeet Dance School and Performance located in Plano, Texas, where she teaches ballet, pointe, variations, lyrical, contemporary, and more to students of all ages from toddler through adult. Katina has choreographed and directed several full length ballets with HappyFeet, including her premieres of "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Wizard of Oz". She also does private coaching and choreography along with yoga, barre, and Pilates. While in Texas, Katina has had the wonderful opportunity to guest as a soloist with HappyFeet Dance School, Festival Ballet of North Texas, and Toby’s School of Dance. Formerly, she was a founding company member of Ballet North Texas and a company member with imPULSE dance project, 6 O’Clock Dance Theatre, and performed as a professional artist with Zion Dance Project: Summer and Winter Series.
Katina Kumar is humbled to be founder, owner, Artistic Director, Co-Executive Director as well as company dancer of Ballet Papillon based out of DFW Texas. By beginning her own nonprofit professional ballet company, Katina is able to share her passion for the art of movement, the beauty of expression, and the gift of community and compassion with her dancers, staff, and audience members alike!
Travis Morrison DPT (Company Manager | Co-Executive Director)Travis Morrison PT, DPT, FAAOMPT received his ballet training starting at age three at the Tuzer Dance Center, under the instruction of Tanju Tuzer, Patricia Tuzer, and Linda Brown. After graduating high school, Morrison attended SUNY Purchase College and was taught by Ted Kivitt and Richard Cooke. He is also a 2006 graduate of the Miami City Ballet Pre-Professional Program where he trained under Truman Finney, Edward Villella and Geta Constantinescu, among others.
From 2006 to 2012, Morrison was a member of the Colorado Ballet and had the privilege of working with noted choreographers Michael Pink, John Gardner, Amanda McKerrow, Lila York, and Septime Webre. He especially enjoyed performing in the ballets by modern choreographers Brian Reeder (“Eventually”) and Amy Seiwert (“Things Left Unsaid”). In addition to these contemporary roles, Morrison has also danced a wide range of classical roles in “Swan Lake,” “Don Quixote,” and “Romeo and Juliet”.
In 2009, he was a competitor in the New York International Ballet Competition; and, in 2011, Morrison had the pleasure of performing with Amy Seiwert’s company, Im’ij-re, in San Francisco. This also gave him the opportunity to work with contemporary choreographers Matthew Neenan and Adam Hougland.
Morrison graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas in May of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology. In August of 2018, he graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from UT Medical Branch in Galveston. Most recently, he has completed his fellowship training with Manual Therapy Institute to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Bree Butler (Dancer)Bree started dancing at the age of 3, studying all styles, at Kim’s Performing Arts Centre in Dickinson, Texas. By age 13, they discovered their love for ballet and quickly immersed themself in training. Within a year they were invited to join the pre-professional program at Kennedy Dance Theatre in Clear Lake, Texas, under the direction of Milena Leben where they danced throughout school.
In college, Bree was part of the North Texas Dancers for a year before taking a few years off to focus on their schoolwork. In their senior year, wanting to dance again, they began taking ballet and modern classes in UNT’s Dance Department and teaching Ballet, Jazz, and Acro at Downtown Dance and Performing Arts Centre in McKinney, Texas. In addition, they take classes at Contemporary Ballet Dallas with Eileen McKee.
After earning Bachelor’s degrees in both Nonprofit Leadership Studies and Communications Studies, they decided to return to their true passion, ballet. Bree is an apprentice at Ballet Papillon and is excited to see where this journey may lead!
Charlotte Kelsey (Dancer)Charlotte Kelsey is a 22-year-old Dallas native and is excited to return to the city she calls home. Charlotte began her formal dance training around age 8 at Tulsa Ballet school. After returning to Dallas, she danced with Texas Ballet Theater school, Dallas Metropolitan Ballet school, and Dallas Ballet Center. She attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where she performed with the pre-professional company, Dallas Ballet Company, in works by Jason Fowler, Silas Farley, and others.
Charlotte just finished her 2nd season with Kansas City Ballet’s Second Company, where she performed alongside the company in productions including Septime Webre’s “Wizard of Oz,” Mark Morris’ “Sandpaper,” George Balanchine’s “Serenade,” and others. Before joining Kansas City Ballet, Charlotte was in Pittsburgh Ballet’s graduate program and also attended Point Park University for a semester in 2019. Charlotte has spent her summers at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet, American Ballet Theatre NYC, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and Texas Ballet Theater.
Carolina (Lina) Siddoway (Dancer)Carolina (Lina) Siddoway, a Utah native, began ballet training at Ballet West and continued studies at Nevada Ballet Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Prior to joining Ballet Papillon, Carolina was a trainee at Nevada Ballet Theatre and BalletMet. They have performed a large repertoire of corps de ballet roles with the company of both Nevada Ballet Theatre and BalletMet in “Nutcracker,” “Four Temperaments,” “Swan Lake,” Septime Webre’s “Alice in Wonderland,” and Edwaard Liang’s “Giselle”.
While dancing as a trainee with Nevada Ballet Theatre, Carolina had the opportunity to perform with Cirque du Soleil. And, when with BalletMet, Carolina enjoyed performing principle roles in “Le Corsaire,” “Walpurgisnacht,” and “Western Symphony”.
Carolina has received awards including Top 12 and Top 24 at Youth America Grand Prix. While competing, they received multiple scholarship offers. Throughout their years, Carolina has had the privilege of training on scholarship at School of American Ballet, Ballet Met, Master Ballet Academy, Bolshoi Ballet, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Ballet West, and Joffrey Ballet.
Another of Carolina’s passions is sharing their talents of teaching and inspiring youth. They are excited to continue teaching throughout the DFW area. Carolina is both excited for the opportunity to be a company member and thrilled to continue growing as an artist with Ballet Papillon.
Catalina Sepulveda Guerrero (Dancer)Catalina Sepúlveda began practicing Classical Ballet at 3 years old. At 11, she enrolled into Centro Releve in Guadalajara, México. Under the tutelage of Master Héctor Hernández, she joined the Hernández Youth Ballet and performed throughout Mexico. Catalina shared Art and Culture wherever the company went and still enjoys doing so on her own to this day.
Afterwards, Catalina was accepted into the pre-professional program at the Conservatório Internacional Annarella Sánchez in Portugal. As a member of the Junior Ballet, Catalina performed at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, Santuario de Fátima, and other places in Portugal. While there, she was taught Strong Classical Technique, Neoclassical, Contemporary and Character Dance by an international cast of teachers hailing from Spain, Portugal, USA, Cuba, France, United Kingdom and Mexico. Memorable instructors include former dancer Maina Gielgud and Carlos Valcarcel. Additionally, she recently began pursuing a degree in Psychology, in Mexico.
After 4 years in Europe, she returns to America a made Professional Dancer, happy to dance in the continent that birthed her. Catalina is excited to dance with Ballet Papillon for their first production of Revival.
Jordan Hulsey (Dancer)Growing up in West Texas, Jordan began dancing at Bingham Dance Center in Midland, Texas, with Joy Swift. After 5 years, she began her Classical Ballet training at Coleman Academy under the direction of Judy Coleman and Susan Clark. She was invited to join Midland Festival Ballet’s performing company from 2003-2007. While with Midland Festival Ballet, Jordan performed in “Swan Lake,” “Peter and The Wolf,” “Cinderella,” and “Raymonda”. She also danced numerous roles in “The Nutcracker” including the role of Clara. She attended Regional Dance America Southwest Festival wherein she had the opportunity to work with John Magnus, George de la Peña, and Elaine Bauer.
Jordan began dancing at the San Angelo Civic Ballet (Ballet San Angelo) with director Meghann Bridgeman. While at San Angelo Civic Ballet, she performed numerous roles in the “Nutcracker,” including ‘Dew Drop Fairy’ and ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’, as well as lead roles in the Evening of Dance production and the Student Spring Showcase. In the summer of 2017, she continued her training at Ballet San Angelo under the direction of Sandra Miller.
Jordan has taught all forms of dance for over 12 years and continues to teach throughout DFW. She is thrilled to be joining Ballet Papillon!
Markel Williams (Guest Artist)A native of Maryland, Markel began his artistic journey in Musical Theatre. It was from there that he found his passion for dance and began his training at Mid-Shore Dance Academy. He received his B.F.A. in Dance: Performance and Choreography from Towson University in 2022. While there, Markel performed in works by Ray Mercer, Glenn Allen Sims, Runqiao Du, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, and Carolyn Dorfman along with many others. He would also extend his artistic experience dancing with Ballet Embody in 2021. In 2022, Markel joined Dallas Black Dance Theatre: Encore!. This marks his first appearance with Ballet Papillon.
Martin (Marty) St. Pierre (Dancer)Martin St. Pierre began dancing at the age of 8 at a small studio in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Mr. St. Pierre has received elite training in ballet and has also trained extensively in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and modern.
Onstage, Mr. St. Pierre spent two seasons performing with Colorado Ballet and one season with State Street Ballet in California. His favorite credits include: working with Hong Kong Ballet’s Artistic Director, Septime Webre, on “Wizard of Oz” and performing the role of ‘Arabian’ in “Nutcracker” at State Street. He attributes much of his success to his mentors, including his hometown teachers Ben Spiegel (tap) and Solange Guenier (contemporary ballet).
