9 to 5 The Musical Cast

Julie Gaines  (Violet Newstead)
Julie was last seen on the BCT stage in Calendar Girls earlier this year. Although she has been performing for over 30 years, this is only her second lead role in a musical; it’s kind of BCT to give her this opportunity, especially as she is also co-directing the show! Favorite roles over the years include Miriam in Apples in Winter, Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret, and Frau Blucher in Young Frankenstein. Julie wants to thank Jan, ALL these fabulous cast and crew members, and her amazing family (on and off-stage) for all their kindness, patience, and support.
Stephanie Jean (Doralee Rhodes)
Stephanie is excited to be performing at BCT for the first time. Her most recent credit was “Dale” in 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche. Next, she’ll be directing Much Ado About Nothing right here at BCT. Offstage, Stephanie is an author. You can check out her debut novel Not A Showmance in the lobby after the show! Thank you always to Jacob, Hazel, and Ty.
Lauren Nebitt  (Judy Bernly)
Lauren has been involved in music and theater for 20 years. She got her start in community theater at the age of 16 and has since done a variety of shows for various theaters in Bakersfield. This will be her first performance at BCT where she hopes to enjoy many more to come!
Adrian Francies  (Franklin Hart, Jr.)
Adrian is thrilled to return to the BCT stage as the bad guy! He was last here in Sister Act (Curtis). You might have also seen him around town in Young Frankenstein (Igor) or Freaky Friday (Mike) at Stars Theatre Restaurant, Bernhardt/Hamlet (Alphonse) or Gifts of the Magi (Soapy) at Stars Playhouse, The Producers (Leo) at The Ovation Theatre, or many shows at The Gaslight Melodrama Theatre & Music Hall. He would like to thank the directors for this opportunity, his spouse Lex for their love, and YOU for your support. (He also wants to tell you that he’s actually very nice and nothing like Hart!)
Tamara White  (Roz Keith)
Tamara is thrilled to return to the BCT stage after a 30-year hiatus! She was last seen here in 1993 portraying the character Diana in the play Lend Me A Tenor. Since 1992, Tamara has been an active member of the Bakersfield theatre community, having been in dozens of productions for Bakersfield Civic Light Opera, Bakersfield Music Theatre, and Stars Dinner Theatre Restaurant. In recent years, she has been honing her comedic skills with several roles at The Gaslight Melodrama Theatre & Music Hall. Some of Tamara’s fondest roles over the years include The Chaperone in The Drowsy Chaperone, Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun!, Carlotta in Follies!, and Princess Winnifred the Woebegone in Once Upon A Mattress. Tamara sends her deepest love and appreciation to her husband Darren, who has always supported and encouraged her passion for the stage.
Nick Ono  (Joe)
Nick was last on the BCT stage in Water By The Spoonful (Elliot). Recent credits include Puffs (Cedric), Head Over Heels (Gynecia), Cinderella (Jean Michel), The Play That Goes Wrong (Trevor), Nice Work If You Can Get It (Jimmy), and The Light In The Piazza (Fabrizio). Enjoy!
Josh Carruthers  (Bob Enright/Ensemble)
Josh is so excited to be a part of his second musical as an adult. He is very grateful to everyone involved for their patience with his dancing and for making this process an extremely enjoyable one.
Rene Cleek  (Margaret Pomerance/Ensemble)
Rene has been a regular audience member and an occasional cast member for 13 years. Some favorite roles were in Smoke on the Mountain, The Sound of Music, 1776, and Disaster. She also sings with the Bakersfield Master Chorale, the Goldenaires and Northeast Christian Church. Rene is blessed with a supportive husband of 41 years, 3 daughters and 4 grandsons (with a 5th due 12/7). She enjoys country living with 5 dogs, 2 horses, and a pig, and soon – chickens. She sends much appreciation to Jan, Julie, Ari, Nick, and cast/crew in handling this challenging show which she’s confident y’all will enjoy. Rene asks that you please continue to support community theatre.
Ariel Clark  (Maria Delgado/Ensemble)
Ariel is excited to return to the BCT stage in this empowering and comedic production. Her most recent theatre credits include Marcy in Dogfight, Ms. Fleming in Heathers, and Old Man Jenkins in SpongeBob the Musical. She would like to thank her friends, family, and love for their support and encouragement. She hopes you enjoy the show and come back in March to see her star in Honky Tonk Laundry with her sister Leslie!
Troy Fidis  (Dick Bernly/Ensemble)
Troy is a dynamic force in entertainment, navigating TV, theater, and film. With a foundation rooted in training from Baron Brown Studio. From captivating TV audiences to enthralling theatergoers, Troy's range shines through diverse roles. His dedication to craft and storytelling prowess have led to a trail of memorable characters. This is Troy’s second show at BCT and he is thrilled to be a part of the community. Troy continues to leave an indelible mark on every project he undertakes, cementing his place as a multifaceted actor with an enduring impact on the industry.
Petra Garibay  (Candy Striper/Ensemble)
Petra is an actress and director from Tulare. She recently rejoined the Bakersfield theater scene earlier this year as Merritt/ Betsy in Wilderness (BCT). Petra’s past theatre credits include Amber Von Tussle (Hairspray) at CSUB, Violet Newstead (9 to 5 THE MUSICAL) and directing The Rocky Horror Show, both at Lindsay Community Theatre. When not on stage she loves playing board games with her husband, Richard, and walking their two dogs, Gilligan and Skipper. Petra is thrilled to have the opportunity to be in one of her favorite musicals, alongside this wonderful cast and crew. Thank you for your support of local artists!
Ty Halton  (Dwayne Rhodes/Ensemble)
Ty is excited to back on BCT’s stage. Recent credits include Puffs, Bernhardt/Hamlet, Head Over Heels, and Sweat. They would like to thank Nick, Jan, Julie, and Ari for their leadership and positive vibes.
Leslie Thompson  (Kathy/Ensemble)
Leslie is excited to be back on the BCT stage. Her favorite roles include Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music, Marion in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and Jan in Grease. When she isn’t on stage, Leslie is a teacher where she facilitates performing arts anytime she’s allowed to at Voorhies Elementary. Leslie is grateful to share the stage with her family for this show! She would like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her.
Marcus Thompson  (Josh Newstead/Ensemble)
is thrilled to be on the BCT stage for the first time! Recent roles include Spamalot (ensemble) at Stars Theatre Restaurant and Shrek the Musical (ensemble). Marcus performs with the BC Chamber Singers where they just performed in Europe this past summer. He would like to thank his family for always supporting his performing arts endeavors.
Sean Thompson  (Tinsworthy/Doctor/Ensemble)
Sean is excited to be in his first show at BCT, which is also his first show in nearly 10 years! In the past he has been in the ensembles for Oliver! with Stars Theater Restaurant, and Les Miserables for The Dream Factory. He's excited to be performing with so much family and is grateful their support.
Deva Wiloth  (Missy Hart/Ensemble)
Deva is so excited to be challenging herself with this fun show! She was last seen onstage here at BCT as Diane in See Jane Quit as well as one of the directors of Wilderness right before that. She wants to thank Jan, Julie, Nick, and Ari for giving her this amazing opportunity and helping her push herself in new ways. She also thanks the cast for being so talented and fun to work with and the audience for continuing to support local theatre.
Karla Young  (New Employee/Ensemble)
Karla is a Public Affairs/Communications Specialist for the School of Business and Public Administration at California State University, Bakersfield. Karla's performance experience includes being a voice-over artist, actor, and plus-size model. She loves public speaking, narrating self-care audiobooks, graphic design, and service to the community with her sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Bakersfield Alumnae Chapter. She has a bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge in Computer Animation and a Master of Public Administration degree from CSUB. Some of her recent theatrical work includes Sweat, Cataract House, Stay With Me Awhile, and See Jane Quit.
