Director, Music Director
Michael MoyseenkoMichael Moyseenko is thrilled to once again be Directing this year’s musical! Mr. Moyseenko has been teaching for eleven years; this is his seventh year at Avon and he is truly blessed to have found a school district and community to call home. Michael received his BMA in Music Education at Bowling Green State University, and his Master’s in Educational Leadership through Ashland University. Michael performed in his first show in 2007, Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book (Mowgli), and fell in love. Additional highlights include: Little Shop of Horrors (Mr. Mushnik/Audrey II), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Clopin Trouillefou), Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince), and Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical (Mr. Krabs). As a director and music director: Godspell, Grease, Seussical the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Little Mermaid, [Title of Show], All Shook Up, and The Addams Family, and Les Miserables: School Edition. Michael would like to thank his incredible wife, Melissa, their daughters, Charlotte and Beckett, our supportive, amazing family, this incredible production team, and of course these sensational students.

Assistant Director
Marianthi HalkiasMarianthi Halkias is a senior Music Education student at Baldwin Wallace University. She has had the privilege of studying voice under the direction of Dr. Joanne Uniatowski, Daniel Ihasz, and Colin Briskey. During her time at BW, Marianthi has served as the Events Planning Chair for BW’s chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) as well as Vice President and President of the BW Treble Choir. Marianthi has interned with the BW Community Arts Schools’ (CAS) Music and Movement class and has co-taught the preschool to high school CAS dance classes in various styles. Expecting to graduate in May 2026, Marianthi couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities given to her at BW and at Avon High School.

Pit Orchestra Director
Jesse MartinJesse Martin began his music teaching career 25 years ago with the Avon Local School District, where he continues to teach to this day. He presently teaches the Avon High School Chamber, Camerata, Philharmonic, Sinfonia and Symphony Orchestras, as well as AP Music Theory. In his first year with the district, he was asked to create an orchestra program which he implemented the following year in the fall of 2001 with a small group of 4th graders meeting before school. Since that time, the Avon LSD orchestra program has grown exponentially with 4 high school string orchestras, 4 middle school string orchestras, a high school full symphony orchestra, and a rock orchestra, AEO (Avon Electric Orchestra), which he began in 2012.
Jesse received his Bachelor of Music Education from Baldwin-Wallace University in 2000, with emphasis on oboe and viola, having studied with former Cleveland Orchestra oboist Elizabeth Camus as well as violist Louise Zeitlin. He received his Masters of Music Education from Cleveland State University in 2013.
Jesse is also an avid performer in the Northeast Ohio area. He currently holds the position of principal oboe with the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, 2nd oboe/English Horn with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and principal oboe with the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra. Jesse is currently the OMEA all-region chair, and is an active adjudicator for both OMEA solo and ensemble and large group adjudicated events. In his spare time outside of his busy life in music, he enjoys road trips, maps, exploring, biking, gardening, cooking, and spending time with his cat, Alejandro.

Choreographer
Melissa MoyseenkoMelissa is thrilled to be back working with these talented Avon Eagles. She currently works as the Performing Arts Center Coordinator at Avon Local Schools and has served as the Musical Choreographer for the past four productions. Melissa has been performing since she was 7 and has been seen in productions such Legally Blonde (Paulette), [title of show] (Heidi), Hunchback of Notre Dame (Congregant), Into the Woods as (Cinderella), and many other productions across Northwest and Northeast Ohio.
Melissa would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the students, production team, and Avon staff that have made this production of Shrek the Musical possible. She would also like to thank her loving husband, daughters, parents, and in-laws for their support throughout this process. Enjoy the show!

Sarah SpaydMs. Sarah Spayd is proud to be the Avon High School Drama Club Advisor and the Painting and Props Director. In these roles, she gets to work alongside talented and eager students to produce wonderful shows like Les Miserables! Ms. Spayd has always had a love for theater and feels so lucky to be involved in this organization. She would like to extend a "Thank You" to all of the community and family members that show their support to the Avon Drama Club and other arts programs.

Katie WellsKatie is thrilled to be joining Avon High School this spring! After attending CSU with a Scholarship in Costume Design, her designs have been seen on stages and screens through out OH, PA, MD and NY. Over the last decade she has held over 6 design residencies in Northeast Ohio. She has won several awards for her costume designs including a Certificate of Honor from the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts(2011). Also an actor, she is a proud Actor’s Equity Membership Candidate and will be making her professional Toronto acting debut this summer. Thank you for supporting Avon High School’s Drama program!

Jeanine TesoriJEANINE TESORI won the Tony Award for Best Original Score with Lisa Kron for the musical Fun Home. She has also written Tony-nominated scores for Twelfth Night at Lincoln Center; Thoroughly Modern Millie (lyrics, Dick Scanlan); Caroline, or Change (lyrics, Tony Kushner); and Shrek The Musical (lyrics, David Lindsay-Abaire). The production of Caroline, or Change at the National Theatre in London received the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Her 1997 Off-Broadway musical Violet (lyrics, Brian Crawley) opened on Broadway in 2014 and garnered four Tony nominations, including Best Musical Revival. Opera: A Blizzard on Marblehead Neck (libretto, Tony Kushner; Glimmerglass) and The Lion, The Unicorn, and Me (libretto, J. D. McClatchy, Kennedy Center). Music for plays: Mother Courage (dir. George C. Wolfe, with Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline), John Guare's A Free Man of Color (Lincoln Center Theater, dir. George C. Wolfe), and Romeo and Juliet (Delacorte Gala). Film scores: Nights in Rodanthe, Every Day, and You're Not You. Ms. Tesori is a member of the Dramatists Guild and was cited by the ASCAP as the first female composer to have two new musicals running concurrently on Broadway. She was the founding artistic director of Encores! Off-Center at New York City Center, and a lecturer in music at Yale University. Most of all, she is the proud parent of Siena Rafter.

David Lindsay-AbaireDAVID LINDSAY-ABAIRE is a Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, screenwriter, lyricist and librettist. His most recent show, the musical Kimberly Akimbo, written with composer Jeanine Tesori, premiered off Broadway at the Atlantic Theater Co., where it won the Lortel, NYDCC, OCC and Drama Desk Awards for Best Musical before it moved to Broadway and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score as well as a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album. His play Good People premiered on Broadway at MTC, was awarded the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, The Horton Foote Prize, The Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, and two Tony nominations. His play Rabbit Hole also premiered on Broadway at MTC and received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, five Tony nominations, and the Spirit of America Award. David also wrote the book and lyrics for Shrek the Musical (Jeanine Tesori, composer), which was nominated for eight Tonys, four Oliviers, a Grammy, and earned David the Kleban Prize as America’s most promising musical theatre lyricist. His newest play, The Balusters, premiers on Broadway at MTC in April 2026, directed by Kenny Leon. David’s other plays include Ripcord, Fuddy Meers, Kimberly Akimbo and Wonder of the World which all premiered at MTC, as as well as A Devil Inside at Soho Rep. In addition to his work in theatre, David's screen credits include his film adaptation of Rabbit Hole (starring Nicole Kidman, Oscar nomination), Dreamworks’ Rise of the Guardians, and The Family Fang, among others. He is also, along with Tanya Barfield, Co-Director of the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at the Juilliard School.
