Director/Choreographer
Mickey NugentMickey Nugent has directed and choreographed over 130 plays and musicals from NY to California in his 40 years of professional and educational service. A member of Actor’s Equity, Mr. Nugent has performed in the National Tours of Cats, Grease and Godspell and has played regionally in Forever Plaid,Oklahoma, Anything Goes, 42nd St to name a few. He has starred as Bobby Child In Crazy For You at Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Playhouse,George M at the Grandbury Opera House in TX and Bill Snibson in Richmond VA’s The Mill Theater.
He currently resides here in Tucson and is an adjunct Instructor at Pima College Fine Arts Dept teaching Movement and Dance for actors.
Most recently his choreographic work was seen in the award winning Kinky Boots at Arts Express Theater. His next project will be directing Shrek the musical this coming Summer at the QJTT in New York’s The Hampton’s.

Music Director/Keyboard 1
Elizabeth SpencerOriginally from Chicago, Illinois (BS in Music Education from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana), she spent 30 years in Tucson (working at the University of Arizona - ART, the Arizona Theatre Company (“Emma”, “Xanadu”, “The Music Man” and music directing many productions for SOS – their summer youth theatre program), Arizona Onstage Productions and the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus, among others) before moving to Phoenix 9 years ago. While in Phoenix, she performed with Arizona Broadway Theatre, Phoenix Theatre and other area theatre companies, as well as music directing productions at the Hale Theatre, Desert Stages Theatre and the Black Theatre Troupe. She has played for the National Tours of “Wicked”, “West Side Story”, “Legally Blonde”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Annie”, “Beautiful”, “An American In Paris” and “The Little Mermaid”. She and her husband, Tom, moved back to Tucson in 2019 and she’s very happy to be a part of the Tucson theatre community again, and to be working on another production with Arts Express Theatre.

Costume Design
Nicolette GudenkaufNicolette is excited to be costuming “Xanadu”! Previous costume design credits include “Kinky Boots,” “Side Show”, “9 to 5”, “Rock of Ages", and “In the Heights”. She regularly costumes for One Rehearsal Short. Acting credits include “Pygmalion”(Eliza Doolittle), “The Skin of Our Teeth” (Gladys Antrobus), “Blithe Spirit” (Edith), “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” (Beatrice) and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”( Ensemble). She’s also is a cast member of From the Top, a musical improv group, One Rehearsal Short, and Keep Tucson Sketchy. In her day job, Nico works at a local costume and vintage store. Nicolette would like to thank Tucson Thrift for all their assistance!

Scenic & Lighting Design
Todd PoelstraTodd is a retired arts educator from PCC Theatre Arts where he served for 34 years in various roles including: Program Coordinator, Director, Designer, Technical Director. Todd has designed numerous productions for Tucson theater companies including Borderlands Theatre, Invisible Theatre, A.K.A. Theatre, Dancing in the Streets, and UA School of Music Opera Theatre.

Tech Director & Sound Design
Mike DunnTechnical Director for Arts Express Theatre since 2018, Mike Dunn has provided technical support for the company’s productions going back to 2005. Working as the Stage Crew Manager at Sahuaro High School from 2005 to 2016, many of his students have worked in collaboration with AET on their arts education programs and performances over those years. Coming from an audio production background, Mike has also run a recording studio here in Tucson since 1995, when he relocated from New York. Those production services have included on location recordings for groups such as Barrage and the Tucson Pops Orchestra, in local venues such as the Fox Theatre and the Tucson Convention Center. While the tech services provided may range from set design/staging to audio/video production, they are always a collaborative effort to communicate an artist’s story to the audience.

Stage Manager
Mike SaxonMike Saxon was born in Tucson and majored in Theatre Education at the University of Arizona. He joined the Tucson theater community shortly after graduating high school and in that time has acted, directed, stage managed and sound designed for countless local companies. Some of his favorites include stage managing SNOOPY! for Live Theatre Workshop, portraying Ford in MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR for the EL Rio Theater Project, and sound designing MEN IN BOATS for Something Something Theater Company. He currently works as a theater teacher at the Academy of Tucson High School and as Resident Stage Manager for Arts Express.

Assistant Stage Manager
Jayden ShawJayden Shaw is a recent 2024 High school graduate who has Stage Managed 3+ musicals and worked tech in 70+ shows throughout his Middle School and High school career. He has also recently been seen in Arts Express’s Production of Fiddler On The Roof as a Bottle Dancer/Russian/Sons Ensemble. He is thankful to have the opportunity to be back in the technical world of Theatre once again.

ASM/A2
Robin HolterRobin Holter is an ASM and A2 (Or Mic Wrangler) at Art Express Theater. He's been
involved in theater tech since high school, and has been with AET for almost three
years now, working behind the scenes of many great shows here. He has also worked
on productions elsewhere, including SAPAC's Forever Plaid and A Minister's Wife, as
well as Inner Voice Studio's Mean Girls and Theory of Relativity/Ride the Cyclone, and Hadestown. He wants to thank his family for their love and
support, and the blessing of good friends.

Intimacy/Consent Professional
Matt DenneyMatt Denney is a Filipino-American educator and researcher with a mixed-race background. He has worked with Arts Express this whole season as the Resident Intimacy Consultant/Director. Matt has a broad range of experience, and his work has been showcased at several notable institutions, including East West Players, Ottawa School of Theatre, the Center for Creative Photography, and the Shakespeare Theatre Company. Matt has served as a Grant Committee member for the National Endowment for the Arts and has cofounded Consent Creatives of Arizona, which strives to create better rehearsal room environments across Arizona.

Props Manager
Stacey Posey ShkolnickStacey Posey Shkolnick is a native Tucsonan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts and an English minor from the University of Arizona. She started Acting/Tech Crew her sophomore year at Marana High School (2014-2017). Since then her love for theatre arts has grown. In 2020 she received her Associate’s Degree in Visual Arts-Theatre at Pima Community College. She has performed and served as tech staff at Pima for shows including Tartuffe, Mamma Mia!, The Sun Serpent and Singin' In The Rain. She has worked with other local community theatres such as Live Theatre Workshop, Borderlands, Something Something Theatre, Winding Road, and Oro Valley Theatre Company. She has been a part of the AET Tech team since 2020 and has served as Properties Manager for several shows, including Something Rotten!, 9 to 5, Oliver!, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, and many more.

Director of Production
Diana KnoepfleDiana, AET’s Director of Production, is also a veteran Production Stage Manager, a past Technical Director, and has credits in freelance Light Design, Sound Design and editing.
A professional level member of the Stage Managers’ Association of the United States, she is also currently the Production Stage Manager for Ballet Rincon, and for many years was the Production Stage Manager at the Invisible Theatre. She just finished a run as Stage Manager for Fiddler on the Roof, and last summer was the Stage Manager for Grease.
Diana continues her freelance light and sound work, speaking engagements and technical theater consultation. She recently was the freelance Production Stage Manager for the musical Mean Girls, and has worked with companies that include SAPAC, Inner Voice Studio, and Gotta Dance at venues that include Centennial Hall, Temple of Music & Art, and Fox Tucson Theatre.
Favorite past productions in technical direction, stage management and light and sound design include GREASE, THE BOOKSTORE, LET FREEDOM SING, NUTCRACKER BALLET, TRUMBO, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, SWAN LAKE, LAST FIVE YEARS, GODSPELL, AET’s NYE
GALA and MEAN GIRLS.
Outside of theater, Diana enjoys spending time with her family.
