Circle and Square is a play designed for ages 2-5 and their parents/caregivers to attend and enjoy together. In this interactive, mostly nonverbal story, audiences meet the free spirit Circle, followed by highly structured Square. These two characters have a hard time figuring out how to play together because they are so different. Throughout the play, Circle and Square discover each other's unique gifts and how they can be combined to have even more fun together than apart.

ABOUT SMALL IS ALL

Most plays and performances available for youth in the Triangle community are a great fit for ages 6 and up, leaving the 0-5 age group vastly underserved in the arts. Small is All Productions is a theatre company dedicated to creating theatre performances specifically for very young children and their caregivers to fill this gap in the Triangle area arts ecosystem. Our name comes from adrienne maree brown’s Emergent Strategy principle: “Small is all… what we practice at the small scale can reverberate to the largest scale.” Caregivers know that tiny humans are full of big feelings, energy, questions and needs. Small is All artists bring the experience and curiosity required to make theatre that serves the unique needs of our youngest community members and their caregivers.

Aggregate was created in 2017 to develop a stronger theatregoing presence among youth and young professionals in the Triangle area. Aggregate’s productions have been eclectic in nature, including seven world premieres, varying from traditional stage plays (The Stonewater Rapture) to immersive workshop performances (Vanya in Los Feliz) to interactive experiences (In Good Taste: Shakespeare at Brewery Bhavana) and children’s productions (2018 Children’s Theatre Series). In addition to theatrical productions, Aggregate also has produced multiple audio productions (Stuck Stories and Gazellephant) and has a very active theatre education branch that goes into schools and other public and private organizations to share the joy and inspiration of theatre through residencies and performances. Aggregate regularly partners with The Alli Mae Carnes Studio for camps, classes, and student productions to offer theatrical training for youth.  Aggregate is thrilled to support Small Is All's work with Circle and Square in a shared mission to instill a love of theatre in the youngest audiences.
