About Flamingos, Starlings, and 'O'opu

In the spirit of making contemporary dance performances accessible for families and people with sensory sensitivities, Adaptations Dance Theater will share a short collection of original dance works in a casual, outdoor setting at the beautiful IMUA Discovery Garden.

The performance will start promptly at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 25 to make use of the daylight (no additional lighting will be used). Music for each piece will be played at a softer level and can be listened to in advance by following the Spotify link within the What To Expect section below.

The performances will run approximately 45 minutes in total, with a short verbal introduction before each piece to provide context for what you are about to see (you can also read a short description about each piece in the What to Expect section below). An additional 15-minute interactive activity will conclude the show for those who feel inspired to move!

Stage Area

The ‘stage’ will be a paved area in front of the main building on the property, and the audience is invited to sit or stand on the lawn facing the building, so that the audience will have some distance between themselves and the performers.

Audience Area

Seating is general admission lawn seating & attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs (please avoid obstructing people's views behind you).
