About Winter One-Acts 2026
Join us for an evening of theatre showcasing the talent and hard work of our beginning (Drama 1) and intermediate (Drama 2) drama students and their student-directors! This year's One-Act Festival is a double feature, presenting two short, distinct, and dynamic student-directed productions.
Drama 1 presents A Midsummer Night's Dream, warming up your winter with Shakespeare's beloved comedy—reimagined and condensed to less than an hour! Our Drama 1 students tackle the language and physical comedy of the fairies, lovers, and mechanicals. This ambitious undertaking provides our newest actors with foundational stage experience, focusing on clear storytelling, character development, and working collaboratively with classical text. Directed by Emanuel Bairan de Luna, Madison Gaskins, and Amari Reyes.
Drama 2 presents OFF-SCRIPT, a fully original and student-created play created entirely by the Drama 2 ensemble. Devising theatre involves the actors generating the script, characters, and staging from scratch through improvisation, research, and creative collaboration. This production challenges our intermediate students to move beyond performing a script and instead focuses on advanced skills like ensemble creation, non-linear narrative, and exploring contemporary themes relevant to the student experience. Expect a performance that is raw, inventive, and completely unique! Directed by Frankie Arenas, Jillian Egargin, and Lorraine Galvan.
ACHS Theatre Arts
ACHS Theatre Arts is a passionate group of students in Drama 1, 2, Advanced Drama, Stagecraft, and Musical Theatre. We are proud to present two full-length shows every year as well as "Winter One-Acts" in January. Theatre is unique in that it is the most authentic project-based learning possible. Students collaborate to bring a show to life and then present it to friends, peers, and community members.
We encourage all ACHS students to join the Theater Arts department by taking one of our entry-level classes, Drama 1 or Stagecraft, or auditioning for Advanced Drama and Musical Theatre, or joining the American Canyon Drama Club. There are many opportunities to participate in theatre, either onstage or behind the scenes. Experience is not required! All are welcome to experience the spirit, dedication, and talent of American Canyon High School's theatre family.
Our goal this year is to DARE TO DREAM. We hope you will join us on our learning journey as we delve into classics, contemporary, and playwriting skills. You may be surprised to discover that you actually enjoy it!
Your support is vital to our Theatre Arts family so we can continue to offer high-quality productions and learning year after year. We urge you to attend as many performances as possible and support our fundraising activities as well.
