Palmetto Center for the Arts, District Two's High School Visual and Performing Arts Magnet, is nationally recognized, receiving the John F. Kennedy Center Creative Ticket Award for outstanding achievement in arts education. The program includes dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. The innovative and comprehensive curriculum provides students with a strong foundation to enter top-level colleges, universities or conservatories. In addition, all PCA students are enrolled in the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme and may pursue an IB Diploma. PCA Admission is by audition and open to rising freshmen, PCA services students from their first year of high school all the way until they walk across the graduation stage with their well-earned medallion. PCA also provides scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors. ABC, or Arts in Basic Curriculum, works closely with PCA to ensure the best for our students.
PCA Theatre provides plenty of performance opportunities for our students in our Black Box Theatre and the District Auditorium Space, managed by David Mitchell and Tony Fling. Our students also frequently attend the South Carolina Theatre Association, as well as the Palmetto Dramatic Association. Past performances include She Kills Monsters, Triangle Factory Project, and 10 Ways to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse. We take on guests artists to help keep our curriculum as well-rounded as possible. Our IB students engage in several large projects every year, challenging both as leaders and as artists. We also have a growing Tech department!
