OUR MISSION

Our Theatre's mission is to provide quality productions for local citizens, offer an outlet for children and adults who want to perform, and teach theatre skills to anyone that wants to learn. In an area that struggles economically, we are passionate about keeping the arts alive. For over two decades the Pennsylvania Theatre of Performing Arts has provided a venue for talented actors, musicians and dancers to entertain local audiences. Our entirely volunteer organization has mounted dozens of productions ranging from classic and contemporary Broadway musicals and plays to children's productions and work shops.

OUR HISTORY

The PTPA was not always located so centrally in Hazleton. In the early days, we could be found on stage in a refurbished church on Laurel Street. Although the memories there were hard to leave, in 2006 the physical condition of the building and the financial strain became too much for the PTPA to shoulder and a new location in the former JJ Ferrara Center became our new home. Luckily our new facility sprawls a full half block and is in the center of Hazleton. Easily accessible not only to Hazleton but to the surrounding communities of Drums, Sugarloaf and Conyngham, in the Valley and Wilkes-Barre by way of Interstate 81. With an ever changing line up and an energy for the arts, you can be assured that the PTPA will continue to provide quality theatrical performances and remain as a much needed cultural outlet for the talents of our community.
