Donald J. McCann was a writer, director, former President and long time historian for the Oswego Players. A annual one act playwrighting contest was established in his name that provides Central New York playwrights the opportunity to get their plays read and judged. The First Prize winner is awarded a $250 cash prize and if feasible, the winning one-act play could be presented at the Oswego Civic Arts Center in the coming year. The Donald J. McCann Memorial Playwriting Contest is funded by generous donation received from across the community.

Lawrence E. Rose was an actor, set builder, tech operator and stage manger. The Oswego Players awards a performing arts scholarship each year in his honor. The applicant must be a high school senior residing in the county of Oswego with the intent of majoring in the performing arts. The scholar award is $250 to be paid directly to the winner of the scholarship. Donations from the community assist us in continuing the Lawrence E. Rose Scholarship. Lawrence E. The scholar award is $250 to be paid directly to the winner of the scholarship. Donations from the community assist us in continuing the Marion Green Scholarship.
