We are the resident theatre program at Mount St. Joseph University. Theatre has a long-standing tradition at MSJ, and now... we are proud to share an expanded MSJ Theatre Arts experience. The best part of MSJ Theatre Arts is that anyone can be involved. Here at MSJ, everyone is welcome to participate regardless of your major. If you have a real passion for theatre but don’t plan to do it as your day job, MSJ is a great place to give you the tools to continue to be involved in theatre arts.

THEATRE LAB

Our student group, Theatre Lab, meets weekly throughout the semester offering theatre lovers the opportunity to play fun theatre games, meet new friends, and most importantly, to make theatre.

Theatre Lab holds events throughout the semester, like Zombie Night (where students presented a zombie character they crafted over several weeks to compete for prizes). Periodically throughout the semester we go to see theatre productions at local theatres such as the Know, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Ensemble Theatre, and the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

CLASSES

Many wonderful theatre topics classes are offered at MSJ including topics from Acting Workshop, Stagecraft, Contemporary Drama, Shakespeare, and an Honors Cincinnati Art Scene course. 

Through Acting Workshop, students discover various acting techniques that fuse intellect, imagination, voice, and body. The course is designed not only for students of the theater, but also for students interested in public speaking, trial law, media, and education, as well as a broad range of other careers in which confident, fluent, and expressive communication skills are essential.
