International Thespian Society Troupe 1109

What is ITS?
The International Thespian Society is a national honorary organization for high school students that recognizes student achievement in the theatre arts. For more information, visit the International Thespian Society website.
To look at the Missouri Thespians specifically, visit the MO State Thespians Site.

How do I join?
Being involved with Ladue Theatre automatically helps toward becoming a member of Troupe 1109. Students do not have to be in the troupe to participate in theatre, nor do they have to join if they choose not to. If a student wants to join:

How do I become a Thespian?

  • You must earn 10 points in two categories and you must pay the one-time $35 fee.
  • The categories are: acting, production, business, directing, & writing. See the point system below.
  • Each point represents 10 hours of rehearsal.
  • You may earn points up to three points a year for outside theatre, which includes middle school work.
  • SO, FOR EXAMPLE:
    • Sally played a minor role in the fall play = 5 pts
    • She then participated in Trick or Treat… = 1 community service point
    • She then was on set crew for the winter musical = 5 pts
    • She went to see three plays at The Rep = 1.5 pts

By the end of the year, she can be inducted at the Charlies in May because she has at least 10 points in two categories (acting and production). Now, she only needs to pay Mrs. Winingham the one-time fee of $35 and then she will receive a Thespian Card, a certificate, and a life-time membership in the International Thespian Society! She will also be able to compete at State, apply for scholarships, and pay less for tickets to high school productions!

What does being in Troupe 1109 mean?
As a troupe, we do all sorts of activities throughout the year, from community service to movie nights to bonfires. We work to spread theatre throughout the community and support fellow high schools in their theatre endeavors. We also attend the Missouri Thespian Conference each year (check our Instagram highlights for, well, the highlights!)  and while you don't have to be in the troupe to go, being a member gives the student access to auditions, competitions, and other benefits. To be an active member of the troupe, the student must participate in at least two productions a year and go to troupe events. The ITS troupe is a great way to spend time with other theatre members and have fun!
